Just thought I'd show her off :D I'm picking her up wednesday. Can't wait to start bolting all the toys on her. She was rebuilt in 97, and since then has only covered 20,000 miles. This V8 pulls like a train! Don't think I can live with the colour though, it's a good job my trade is paint spraying :D

I'm Deff going to get an LPG gas conversion done on her, I live in the kent area, does anyone know of a place that will do this at a reasonable cost in or around my area?

Looks tidy that!

Thank You! and Yes it is. It's very solid, only thing that needs doing is the bulkhead tops, and a new front bumper, (but I want to put a winch bumper on anyway). I need to weld in a couple of new ones. But thats not a prob for me. I've been restoring classic VW campers and beetles for years. Looking forward to doing some greenlaning. :)

Really jealous, I'm sort of half looking for a V8.
:)

I got this one from ebay, from a dealer called 'yanthelandyman' He only sells quality landys, with a years mot on them, and specialises in V8's. He still has I think a couple of real good ones for sale. I paid £3,300 for mine, it was reduced quite a bit. And he delivers anywhere in the country. He's delivering from bolton near manchester to whare I am in Dover! he's charging £250, but figured it was worth it when you consider train fare to get down there, and petrol back, plus hassle.

He sells landies on ebay what do you think??
So do loads of other peeps, don't mean to say ther'yre all crooks. You take a chance wherever you go when buying a secondhand vehicle IMO. Main thing is the vehicle is low milage after a complete rebuild, and it's sound. :)

Says he?? hope he's got lots of documentation to prove the mileage. He's a riight conman.

.... and it's sound. :)

apart from the welding you mentioned

he's very good at covering things up, there's been a good few peeps who after having lived with the new acquisition for a while have found all is not quite as it originally appeared - but good luck with it, at least you have a proper LR

Well thanks for the warning guys, I appriciate all your inputs. I'm a classic VW restorer, so I'm not green when it comes to vehicles, I know this is my first landy, but rust is rust right? I know how to find it, and roughly where to look on a landy. Believe me I've seen some right botcherys when it comes to dodgy repairs on my customers Vee dubs. I've made many a grown man cry when I pointed them out to them, but Luckily I've had the knowledge to sort it for them. It really annoys me seeing people ripped off like this, it's one of the reasons I lost interst in the VW scene, it was becoming too much about money, That and my wife was too disabled to camp in them anymore.

So I'll give it a good once over before I accept it. It's not being delivered until wednesday. Oh he does apparently have documentation on the mileage. The bulkhead tops are nothing for me, I can weld some repair panels in if nessasary, but they may not need it. I May have to just cut a small patch out of them. I'm just assuming worse case senario. And I'm planning to give it a complete respray anyway, I can't live with that light purple! For the money it's bound to need something, I've had a good look around, and it's about the best I can get for my budget of £3,300 for a low mile V8.

Does anyone know what MPG I can expect from a V8 landy? Im assuming about 20 if I'm not too heavy on my right foot? Also does it have a timing chain or belt? Also anyone on here know of a good bloke that does secondhand parts including winches/winch bumpers, and rock sliders that can double up as a step into the cab etc, oh and a good light bar pref with lights on for a 90? Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Congrats on the purchase, hopefully its all as seems. What colour you planning on painting it?

What size V8 engine is it? Injection? Carb?

It will have a timing chain.

If your good at welding/fab then im guessing you could prob make your own rock sliders then you could have exactly what you want.

It's got twin carbs. And it's a 3.5 Haven't made my mind up with the colour, thinking of a blue at the mo. Hadn't thought of welding up my own rock sliders, thats a good idea.
