Having looked at quite a few Classics settled on this one. Just completed 1K miles in her, so far so good. Its been LPG converted, had to compromise on tank placement (its in the boot 80 Litres useable) Already working on a wooden parcel shelf to maximize boot space. LPG switches from cold with a blip of the throttle which is good for maximum economy. Approx 12mpg short journeys and 16 mpg on a run, so approx 20 and 28mpg equivilant. Not great but not bad for a V8. Sure I'll be asking lots of questions as things start going pearshaped:)

Paid £995 for it. Had it up on a lift and went over it with a fine tooth comb. Solid as a rock underneath, even the tail gate is in good nick. Electric windows, seats and sunroof all work. AC is ice cold. Central locking sometimes doesn't open left rear door and electric mirrors not working are the only issues, SO FAR!!!

It looks as though you have an absolute bargain there. I'm looking for a classic myself but I'm not expecting to get one that clean for a grand going off what I've seen on fleabay and the autotrader. Looks good anyway, especially the colour scheme of black with black leather. Let me know if you get fed up with it in the next week or two.........:D:D

Looked at quite a few til I found this one. Became very familiar with the favourite spots for rust. Gave up on e-bay in the end, some of the descriptions didn't quite match the reality. Unless its being given away would never buy one of these without having a good look.

I've been tempted a couple of times buying blind but (fortunately probably), I've either been outbid or it's not reached reserve. Sills, rear wheelarches, rear crossmember, chassis ouriggers are the favourites I think. Anywhere else I should be looking (apart from all over...)?

Rear seat belt mounts is another, also looked at one where the top of the front shock looked like it was suspended in fresh air!! I took my time becoz I needed it to be a daily driver but if your'e after 1 for a bit of fun there are some cheapies out there. A no mot runner with LPG and underslung tanks good engine and gearbox went on e-bay for £380 today. I was tempted just for the spare parts.

I need one as a boat launching / dog carrying runabout as I spend a lot of time when on leave up in Dunoon (across the Clyde from Greenock/Gourock for those of you geographically challenged). We go up in a car most of the time so I need something there to do the job. Doesn't have to be as shiny as yours (but it would be nice), just reasonably solid and reliable. I'll keep looking but if anyone on here has one for sale going cheap, I could be interested. Preferably not a million miles from Blackburn (Lancs).
Cheers

she does look a clean old girl, the central locking is just a door panel off and a drop of oil. best to do all 4 doors though. the mirrors could be a fuse?? or the dash switch. i do have one or two of those kicking around in the garage. what part of london are you roughly?

Thanks for the offer. Fuse ok so I'm assuming its the switch, ordered one yesterday so should be here on monday. All door cards comming off this weekend for a central locking service, also going to adjust door handles. Already done drivers, makes a huge difference, details are in rave and is a much easier job than I imagined.
