Hey up all,
Well, i havent posted on here for a while, mainly because 1) I can offer no expert advice as my mechanical experience is pretty limited and 2) I havent had any issues with my freelander (td4) for a while.
However, this has now changed, i was experiencing loss of power at 70mph for last 5 months, i only noticed it on motorway runs, which were only now and again, a mate of mine said he had something similar when he had one and it turned out to be a split intercooler hose, nowt to worry about only 20odd quid. So me being me put it to back of my mind and thought i would get it checked out next time i took it in for something major.
Then last few weeks noticed some black/grey smoke coming out when revving (only every so often).
Took it friday, and turns out the turbo is faulty, the adv variable nozzle has seized, and the engine breather filter is blocked up. The garage said they will strip it down and try and save the turbo but, could end up needing a new one.
The garage have always been spot on, i was just sharing my diagnosis and wondered if anyone shared this experience and how much am i looking at for a new turbo? Garage bloke said will have to check but around £600.
