So, after years of playing in other people's landy's it was probably time to get my own! Found an '02 plate, 3dr, Freelander 1 TD4 with a little over 140k miles on the clock, a pretty new clutch, only slightly leaky roof and new (if cheap) tyres for pretty cheap. Since buying it in January she's been to the alps and back suffering the standard loss of power over 70mph and breaking down on the way back after going through a full tank in sub 200 miles, did get a nice sunset picture though! After the OH has removed the egr valve, cleaned the inlet manifold and the inlet air temp sensor and replaced the solenoid on the turbo, it seems to be running pretty well, definitely picking up quicker. Did manage to throw a mug of tea down the back of the dash, which promptly exited into the passenger footwell, everything seemed fine until I noticed a distinctly doggy smell, so I'm about to change the pollen filter to rectify that (although that's a logical-ish guess so any suggestions gladly received)!
Have done a bit of off-roading, we went to visit Imber over Easter opening this year, mostly went through puddles, but would love to do more :)hippo.jpg

So it's been a testing winter, the aux belt snapped and wrapped bits of itself round the cam shaft pulley :( which destroyed the seal about a week before our wedding, took it to the nearest garage to fix while we were away on honeymoon and, I quote, 'sorry love, couldn't see where the leak was 'cos there was too much oil everywhere, if you can pressure wash it and bring it back I'll have another look' , took it to my usual garage and they fixed it properly as always.
Flew through the MOT, then the real kicker, two weeks after the OH's disco blew a piston ring, my hippo completely seized halfway down the M4 :( sooo its new engine time, she's so tidy I don't want to break her for scrap if I don't have to, but we're struggling to find a decent engine with any kind of history, unless someone wants the body. Still in indecision at the moment! Bah stupid BMW engine!

Thank you, there's some good options there, I guess it's as likely to explode as any isn't it, three weeks ago I would've said my engine was in perfect working order too :)
