As I my dead line has passed for the dreaded MOT, and I am along way off still, I decided to treat myself to new door tops the other week..
Rocky mountain, aluminium, dual slidding windows.
I also got the channels for the rear sliding side windows from Rocky mountain too..

I did not drive it with it in, I made the decision not long after I got it to get rid of it..
and I still have not drove my landy with the 2 1/4 in yet..

Just thought I would chip in with a bit of support :)

The work you have been doing looks to be 1st class; I'm jealous, I'd love my Landy to be rebuild like that. By what I can see it looks to be a complete rebuild and that takes a LOT of time (I've seen other people do it and the dedication it takes throughout winter); I can also see you are not too far from the end but please don't be to hasty towards the end - take a realistic approach and plan for mid spring or summer for the Mot :)

Getting rid of the non standard (nissan) engine was a good move in my opinion; the 2 1/4 petrol engine pulls a swb series more than adequately for the capabilities of the vehicle. As already stated, the standard engine has great parts/price availability and offsets the horrid price of fuel for the petrol engine - but it's worth every penny because it's a lot of fun to drive.

Hang in there and keep up the good work; would love to see your progress on this thread.

Thanks for the support, much needed..:D
It is my first landy, and before this I never saw the appeal, but since buying it, I am hooked, its all about the landy.
Even today, Xmas eve I am off to get some parts for it..
I decided to not rush for the MOT, so that I wouldnt cut corners, and carry on with the high standard of every bracket etc being replaced, or made new in stainless, or de-rusted and painted.
Also, I still have not driven the thing yet, as soon as it arrived back in April I started repairing.
My only regret is that I should have decided earlier on to get the new chassis etc, instead of wasting time welding the old one...:)

anyone can just replace the chassis but it takes balls of steel to weld the old one wich proves beyond a shadow of doubt that youve put your heart and soul into evry square inch of that vehicle and in the process created a rivveting read of a thread

for that you have my upmost respect keep going fella youll get there :D:D:D

I still need a lower dash, but I am having a go at restoring what I have.

Found a donor dash that was shot too, but luckily it was the opposite end to what i needed.
Cut off the steel work I needed, and spot welded it all together, so now steel is good.

I tried to re vinyl but made a mess of it, so going to try a local auto trimmer, hopefully he can put sponge on it, and do a nice job of the vinyl.

As I have nice new Rocky mountain slidding side window channels, I decided to get new seals that fit between the windows.
So, as they were replaced figured I would polish the trim up too..

Side windows are back in now, with a dark smoke tint.
Eventually the rear door and alpine roof windows will have a tint.
I think the tint looks good with the matt black.

Rear lights and number plate added now.

I had a problem at first getting the indicators to work, which was frustrating as I had a new loom, new indicators.

It turned out it was a faulty relay.:D

wow i am impressed, i am on with mine but dont think it will be a shade on yours, if i can get it looking 1/10th of yours i would be happy. keep up the good work in inspiring me to get on with mine

Decided to have a go at the seat box today, New end sections from Paddocks.

I made a new rear support angle too, a little thicker than the one i took off, but that was all corroded., and would'nt have last much longer.

Stripped years of multi coloured paint off too,( paint stripper and a Karcher) then a coat of matt primer.
I just need to paint the seat runners and then they are ready to fit.

Decided today was going to be the day to get it out from under the tarp, It was on its last legs, with the wind and rain battering it.

I'm hoping it'll give me some inspiration having to face it daily on the drive.
It is suprising how much is left to do, all little jobs though.
