how much did it cost to galvanize you chassis mate?

This one was £150, a standard one was £130.
I had to have it blasted first too which was £100

Not sure if I should sell my chassis as its solid.

Galvd ones arent selling. Been watching them on ebay for months now unfortunately

Maybe I might try and sell mine as a solid standard one then. Might get some interest if its only £100.

disco chassis tend not to rot for some reason, i guess thats why they dont sell well on ebay and nobody bothers making them

very nice thing to have a clean tidy galv unit under the body though imo

Is it possible to completely strip a disco body, patch it all where needed and galv it? I presume the panels would need bracing some how to stop them distorting possibly but would it be possible, has it been done?

Anythings possible but would make it very heavy and rough finish lol

might be worth doing the bottom half of the body..

If someone has the cash a build topic with a body galv would be interesting

Ain't they aluminum?

It would never work. The panels are too lightweight. The galv coating would weigh more than the actual panels. And when panels flex the galv would crack. And fitting it all back together would be a nightmare. Not to mention the overall weight I the disco afterwards. Door hinges etc wouldn't last.

Plus panels on a disco are ali. I've never heard of anybody galv coating Ali before so don't even know if it would take or react or wat would happen. Lol

As in take all the panels door off etc and dip the shell to galv the floors the boot the body mounts the wings etc.

Silly idea. Lol. Would the windows fit back in for instance? And if u ever had to take a rear quarter panel or sumthin off ud be buggered.

Galvanising the shell is on my lottery list so when I win I'll do it and stick it on my thread

On a serious note it's never been done but would be quite wonderful.

Might be better to zinc passivate as it happens but not quite as hard wearing, same idea though and much better for clearances etc, although I don't think it would matter!
