Yes the bumper is going to be changed but I wanted it back on the road as soon as poss.

I did find an easier way to fit the tank guard on though and without any help...yes billy no mates here
Do 1 bolt at a time and replace the 1 you've taken off with the longer type ... basically use a longer bolt (threaded all the way along) and use that bolt with 2 nuts on

I had to grind the 2 bolts off on the underneath in front of the fuel tank not good when you've got nice new extended brake pipes hanging around

1 nut will keep the original tank cradle/frame in situ and then the other to hang the tank guard off ...the 1st nut also acts as a spacer to keep the guard off the cradle/frame.....obviously you can't do the same around the bumper area (because its got a captive nut- well a nut welded on to a square piece of steel)so I put a nylock nut half way down a long bolt(threaded all the way down) before sawing the head off the bolt off so then you've got a stud --- screw the stud (with nut already on) back into the captive nut and then you can lift the tank guard up onto the studs and fit the 2nd nuts - hey presto

I've lifted mine on 2" spring n shocks an 2" spacers plus 265 insa's and everyone has said to me to change the props ands radius arms
N trailing arms but I never have just replaced bushed with offset to reduce front axel twist and I've battered it off road on pay n play days and off road and had no problems with props what so ever. I did grind a
Slight flat but nothing major and it's lasted nearly a year without any probs. just a money making mod!!!!!!

265 x what ? 75 ? And thanks for the reply

Welcome mate, good to see youre getting stuck in :)

IMO the upgrade props are a great investment, i have only 3" lift so have wide angle front and standard rear, but it really is necessary to upgrade i think, simply for peace of mind and future proofing.

I carry ujs in the car cos its not uncommon for a prop to randomly explode in the middle of wales, so minimising wear in the first place is a good shout i reckon, despite the fact that it IS POSSIBLE with standard items, just, maybe, with prop spacers! :)

My thinking was if I've gotta change to wide angle props and cranked arms etc ill wait till the originals are shagged then get them but it just hasn't happened yet. An it's had a rough life.

DiscoNickY any chance of sum pics of your Disco ? Need to see how far the tyres stick out the arches ...... do they rub?..... do they fit inside the arches when fully articulated ? Have you cut the arches at all ? Cheers

stick some 35s on

arches_zps1a9807c0.jpg
Cheers W.L I've actually got a set of Mickey Thompson 35's but I don't want to cut the arches and from what I've been reading they won't be much good for long runs because you loose your 5th gear (unless you can say otherwise) I commute 60 miles a day and 50 of them are on the motorway that's why I'm looking at some 265/75's or just getting some more aggressive 235/85's ......... what lift you got on yours ?

lookin good mate keep at it ....
i,ve just bought my first ever disco
its a 300tdi on a m plate quite suprised at how good on fuel it is compared to the hilux surf i sold to get it
