i have seen alot of tyres performing and i have narrowed it down to the best two road legal tyres i can find for a reasonable price

insa turbo special track VS greenway anacondas

please let me know which it the best

both cost about £55 each, and both have the same amount of tread.

which is the worst for sidewall tearing
which has the best self cleaning

special tracks are really good but only come in 265/75

all round performance you cant beat BF MT's or Cooper STT's both of which also come in 255/85's :)

On a scale of 1-10 where do they fit in with colway A.T, I find these rubbish in mud, however the general view seems to be that most tyres struggle in mud a bit.

I guess that you would be banned from greenlaning with these??

you can beat bfg's very easily. try kumho's they are better than bfg's and half the fookin price. the only reason folk always reccomend bfg is because that is all they have tried. granted they are a good tyre but they are not that good

ai maybe, but good reports indicate exc mileage return for the MT's to. 1 bloke got over 100,000miles out if his AT's

the BF's are a step back from the real aggressive tread patterns like special tracks, grizzly claws (dont go there) anaconda's and alligators

when i mentioned that specials only came in 265/75 i meant thats the biggest they do. you get better size options with other manufacturers.

With Matt on that one. Just bought some Kumho KL71's fom Cheap Tyres Discount Tyres & Japanese Import Car Parts Spares Tuning Performance ::, got them fitted to my disco and cant fault them. Came very close to getting stuck tonight but they ate there way out! Very impressed. Also would stay well clear of bronco4x4. Ordered tyres off them, 3 weeks later still no tyres and not 1 phone call or email so cancelled the order and was told i'd be refunded in max of 3 days. 6 days later and still no refund.

Ok you like playing in mud, my bastid 300tdi with colway at's dug itself right in big style, I would imagine more agressive tread bigger hole and no movement forward either. I needed to use my waffle boards, and it was an inocent grass track that ambooshed me.,

Tell me how they performed, what you were stuck in, and what you did to get out, my fear was it was going to go up to the axles, my front went down first and worst, but the rear although not as bad did the same. The second it lost it I whacked it into low diff lock but it sank even before I even tried to go back, and as you know one wheel driving rear and one front, ****ing useless. Proper diff locks is what it wants.

I've got bfg muds on my 110 they were on it when I got it and the bloke reckoned they'd done at least 20k. I've done 10k on them and I reckon there's at least another 10-15k in them before they're shot, even more till they're actually illegal. I'd be interested to hear what kind of mileage people are getting from kumho etc.

Dont get me wrong i'm no off raod expert, i'm fairly new to this game! It was a swamp the took me by suprise in the middle of a field in the pitch black! I had exactly the same happen a few weeks earlier while i still had road tyres on an there was no chance i was getting out. This time though with the Kumho's was a different story!

Just like yours the front sank alot worse than the rear, put it straight in diff hi, still nothing. Then tried diff lo, moved slightly but only into deeper trouble! So it was a case of putting it into reverse and each time i moved slightly i would keep turning from left to right to find fresh traction (probably a very amature way, but thats what i am). It seemed to work and as the kumho's i have are not the most aggressive pattern going i was very impressed.

The one advantage i find with these is the pattern on the side wall, very good for getting out of deep tractor ruts. Also i have been told that they are meant to be the rival for the bfg mt's, they are cheaper, got a more aggressive tread and have the added pattern on the sidewall. No competition for me!

Not such an amature I think, you got out and I needed waffle boards so not much wrong with your technique.

I tried the braking concept whilst driving the wheels but it was no use, branches into the wheels also no use since you really need to lift it to put them under since it would not climb onto them, and digging to get them in is also no use. Rocking dug it in fast and every attempt that failed made it less likely to get it out. I think without waffle boards I was ****ed, a tractor job, but it pulled itself onto them, but I can tell you I was covered in mud and so was the vehicle and I can understand how easy it is to get injured when you are sliding about all over the place, with all the tools covered in slimey mud, and miles from help.

It makes you wonder why we do it! The first time when we did get stuck we were 5 miles from home in countryside (complete darkness), with 1 fading torch, no jackets an it was pi**in down. Not alot of fun at the time. Unforunately i'm not progressed enough to have waffle boards so it was a sunday mornin job for a 90 an a long rope!

Yep but it will go in your "remember that time we got stuck" brain cell for the next time you're all sitting around the table, with all the extras added of course to make it more interesting for the viewers. But most of them have never seen mud and spend their entire lives welded to the sofa.

We're a long time dead.

Go for kumho KL71 they are what i have got and are very good in the mud and quiet on the road

I've got a standard 110 and will need to cross many muddy fields soon (farm work.) Can I add these straight to the 110 without adding lift or any other changes to suspension, steering, etc?

What would be the maximum, safest, least fuss KL71 size tyre to add?

I'm looking here at the moment: KL71 MT | Kumho Tyres | Wheels & Tyres

Define maximum, safest, least fuss?

What do you want to do with em? Do you want to drive at 100mph on wet tarmac and corner at 60mph?

Do you want to overload em weight or pressure wise?

What do yu mean by least fuss? in what respect?

what wheels are you wanting to fit the tyres on?

I've fitted 265/75/16 insa turbo special tracks to my 110. The only mod I had to make was to adjust one of the steering stops. Being wider than the standard 235/85/16 tyres they throw mud/grit salt etc up the side windows. It can be a pain in the arse to have to keep cleaning them.
