Mpg

Hi can anyone tel me the average mpg for a petrol 4.6 hse and a diesel thanks

2.5DHSE with PSI Power Box 23 to 25mpg around and about depending on traffic etc and 30+ mpg on a run.

4.0 17 around town, never been brave enough to take it on a run

Unless your are working it out just for the fun of it then fine but the reality is that niether cars are the frugal motorists choice. The Diesel will do more MPG's compared to the petrol.....unless you fit LPG which is cheaper and therefore works out slightly better as far as your pocket goes (if you ignore the fitting costs).

Are you thinking of buying a RRover.

LPG seems to = slipped liners according to some people. No slipped liners on diesels. LPG also restricts where you can go in Europe.

My friend has a Peugeot 307cc, it does 27mpg at best, on that basis I reckon the DHSE is pretty good given the comfort levels

Hello my 99 4.6 averages about 15MPG I managed to get it to 40! but that was on the motorway down hill doing 100 then just letting off an letting it calculate it. was fun tho.

then going up a hill on my home the other day i checked an it was down to 5.9!!

Depends how you drive it aswell. ive got a heavy foot so mine doesnt often go over 15.

My 4.6 averages 14 around town and 22 on a run, and that is being fairly easy on the peddle.

The diesel is more frugal, but IMHO not frugal enough to warrant the somewhat un-refined and lathargic BMW unit thats in there.

Boils down to what sort of mileage you cover, under 10K a year go for petrol, over that go for derv or one that has a quality gas convertion.

leave the gas converted ones ranges hate them,
im a qualifield mechanic/fitter and the mess the enging internals get into with gas is terrible.

That sounds piffle to me

straight up,gas burns at higher temperatures,i have had valves melted in the head and that is no lie

working the mpg on my 4.6 on gas around town 10mpg and on a run 15mpg (200 miles at 70 - 80) not great but i only pay 43p a litre my car has done 50k on gas i think a good quality and well fitted system won't cause much problem but a poorly fitted and badly set up system will damage your engine mine runs sweet.

i dont doubt you see all that stuff but have you never seen a well setup system, the gas does run hotter but usually when its setup too lean, usually to penny pinch on mpg, set it up properly and it will be fine. after all there are thousands of cars world wide running on lpg with no ill effects!!

The fact remains that i definately never got the quoted mpg's from my 4.0, even with my gentle feet on and as i said before, the diesel or the lpg (whilst we don't mind) version are not the frugal motorists choice as whilst we try to ignore it they are a £40,000+ vee-hickle when new and they come with "you don't ask at the showroom" economy, coupled with "How did get to that figure !!!" repair bills and that is why i never look at how much it costs me to run mine cus i'd be upset......i am going to convert mine as i am sick and tired of customers and green terrorists giving me grief and derisory looks when i'm on site at festivals until i pull them out of the mud of course and...........it's better for all my badger friends.

i get between 11 and 13 to and from work, and i dont care, i am driving the car of my choice. i pay for it by working long hours and earning cash. if i encounter the green army i just point oit the lpg filler and politely aske them to fcuk off back to thier eco tree house and go hug some trees.

infact the tree huggers prolly generate more pollution than anyone, spouting all that rhubarb and constantly writing slogans on cornflake boxes. after all card is made from trees!!!

this planet has a life span, agreed, but after millions of years do they honestly think its gonna end in 10 years??

co2 emmisions dont exist, all we are doing is redistributing it!!! kinda like the gov't does with my hard earned cash!!!!!

I drove my 4.0 from colchester to lands end just about and did £270.That was with lpg too

i was only kidding bob i never bought mine with mph in mind. i bought it cos i wanted it, when it needs petrol i put it in tis easy he he

Hi lads thanks for input so generaly 10 to 17 mpg about 20 on a run well i pick up my RR tomorrow afternoon sad to let the bm go though but its time for a change and always fancied one thanks again
