Anyone elses Freelander falling to pieces in the cold?

Autobox on blink, lack of power on hills, window regulator drivers side broken, snapped door check strap, leaky rad, number plate light failed...

more a case of whats working these days.

Mine's running sweet as a camels gonad.

Hope the snow aint too bad there Seany boy. Expected here too but not as much as oop North.
 
Gave the inside of rear door a squirt with WD40 to hopefully stop window mechanism freezing up.

Anyone have top tips to prevent windows freezing stuck? Perhaps a light greasing of the top groove where moisture freezes in the material?
 
I only worry about the back window freezing up, as this one really needs to work in order to open the tailgate. Do you need the other windows open right away? They should defrost on their own when the cab warms, just make sure you scrape them before you leave and wipe them with a dry cloth to stop them getting that dirty/salty streaking.

We always use silicone spray (WD40 will work, but our family has always used armourall or Autoglym tyre dressing on the rubbers to drive away water, but it may leave the edges of your glass a little greasy). I always find it helps, but people have loads of these home remedies. One of my neighbours swears by lemon & white vinegar but it stinks. Best way is if you don't need to open them wait until the cab is warm and they should come unstuck themselves.
 
i have broken the rear nearside window mechanism, foolishly thinking it would open in the icey weather.:doh:

also my rad is leaking and i cant get hold of one at the mo! bugger, just keep topping it up!

I keep the security cover off in the ice/snowy weather and avoid the using back door.
 
The curious thing I found a few weeks back was that the window would drop a little but not enough to open. Because of that I tried to, and could, lower the window fully by the switch but it still wouldn't open the rear door fully. That is it partially opened on the door mechanism but not properly. Couple of minutes with window down, I drove it back up on the switch and the door worked properly..... weird.
 
The tailgate is such a bad design. All that malarky going on just to open a bloody door? And when it freezes, the door won't open because the window won't drop down and if you're not thinking, you could easily break the glass. You'd think Land Rover would have thought about this... Imagine living in Scandinavia or Canada with a Freelander. You'd never be able to open the tailgate at all during the winter!
