Is anyone able to post using Yahoo mobile web browser?

It seems I can log in from the mobile but can not post. It welcomes me on to the site by username but my online status button does not illuminate green.

This post is from a PC is case of any S.A. comments

Cheers

Moderators:

I have noticed that this forum is hosted by vBSEO 3.0.0 RC6

Is it likely that the LZ website will be compatible with mobile phone web browsers in the future?

Other forums that are hosted by vBulletin version 3.6.5 Gelsoft technologies 2000-2007 are compatible with mobile phone technology

If the LZ site was compatible with mobile phones, it means that people, when broken down they could post from the raodside, possibly get some feedback for a roadside fix.

C'mon you know it makes sense

I feel a poll coming on

Moderators - can anyone look into this technical problem.

I can post on other forums with:

vBulletin version 3.6.0. gelsoft technologies 2000-2007

vBulletin version 3.6.5 gelsoft technologies 2000-2007

Even tried it with the software from this link:

http://operamini.com

I log in, online button lights up green, says welcome NI.

I enter text in the reply box and when I hit [submit reply] it throws me into

i dont think i'd be to keen to install an upgrade on a system thats working for 99.99% of the users unless i was able to carry out a trial install on a mirror image and have plenty of time to resolve any issues that will crop up

I hear what you are saying........... but its the way forward.

Multimedia devices are becoming more within reach and affordable to the average user. I'll be surprised if you dont know someone who is getting one for xmas or already has one.

My mobile browser costs me nothing (within reasonable usage) its a bolt on, some cracking deals out there

The main advantage would be the members could post from the roadside, mountainside anywhere, rather than confined to a PC or laptop

I've got a pile of PDAs kicking around here that i've tried and eventually given up on for one reason or other - the concept of having a phone/browser/diary/data store/toaster all wrapped up in a little shiny box that fits in your pocket is good, but the praticalities of using "it" on a day to day basis does after a while defeat the object of having "it" - remembering to charge it, to sync it, to not put it in your back pocket when you sit down etc etc

even with with high res and larger screens surfing on one of those things isnt much more than a novelty, and the idea of sitting by a roadside trying to get techy help would try the patience of a saint

if it ant broke dunt fix it i say

Put is this way,,,,,,,, the majority of people will be equipped with a mobile phone of some description before they set out on any journey.

The web phones have only just hit the scene, give it time and the call/text only phones will become obsolete.

By the time you wait for the AA/RAC patrol man or AndyTd4auto.....could be a while!, you could have a answer to the possible problem. There are some forums that are even busier than this one, sometimes an answer is posted within minutes.

Granted, not everyone will have the tools, parts or know how to fix on the spot.

Well folks - we know wot Sean is giving as Xmas pressies this year;).

i doubt if many of them still work - this is going back to my IT days when we just had to have whatever the lastest PDA/Phone - the best one was a HP PDA that had a 4x3" screen, took those mini HD cards, WiFi, Bluetooth etc etc - would sync with everything so you could get it blipping at you when you had an appointment blah blah - and fitted comfy in my inside pocket - you could surf on that without to much scrolling up/down and could even watch a movie in the garden that was being streamed from our media server in the attic

but the battery only lasted less than 4 hours in use and around 3 days just in standby mode

it was a nice toy but like all of them i found a black and red notepad and a ballpoint to be much more reliable, i know you can't surf on a notepad or send emails via a ballpoint but at the end of the day is life really that much easier with all these fancy things ?

NASA spent millions developing a pen that would would upside down and in zero gavity

the russians used pencils

i do like the concept, but as you have said knowing what's wrong doesnt mean you'll have the experience, the tools, the parts or the time to do a roadside fix/repair - that's why the AA/RAC/Greenflag do so much business still

having said that some of the top end BMWs are able to phone home in times of woe and receive a control alt delete signal from the BMW geek on high

Is there no upgrade for the mobile web browser you are using Northern Irelander??

I can use this site with no problems and can post replies and start topics on my Nokia 9500 just fine. Infact this reply is from my 9500 just so I could check it all still works ok.

What phone are you using. Could it maybe the browser isnt compatible with some of the site code rather than the error being with the site??

Cheers, tried it with the operamini.com software.........still not posting from the mobile????

Its a Nokia N73, via Yahoo adapted webpages. I can see everything in minature, even MHM's temptress signature. Webpages are condensed to less than 175KB of info, so it fits on the mobile screen.

It lets me in as a member, I can place text in the reply box, again, hit [Submit Reply] and it throws me into a search function of the fourm?

At a loss with this one?

Ive never used a N73 but you say your viewing 'via Yahoo adapted webpages'?? Can you not bypass the Yahoo proxy system at all??

My guess is its not the site thats the problem but something Yahoo is doing. With things being condensed down to 175k who knows what could be removed as it does that. As in is it just compressing images to a low quality and showing the rest or is it removing what it considers to be 'useless' code??

I would really try and bypass the Yahoo thing and view directly.

Ok success using opera mini 3 software, as opposed to Yahoo, network 3 access point.
The layout is basic, personally I prefer the Yahoo layout.
I still think its the web host not compatible with Yahoo, network 3.
It works fine on similar forums (even pic heavy) with different host
