I did some searching on lz looking for the wiring for the rear view mirror and I came across
"The Purple wire with the White tracer goes to the CCU"
My wires are brown but it still has a brown and white wire ,daft question but am I right in thinking this still goes to the CCU and the solid brown is the permanent live ? thanks

Just measure the voltage at the wires you have. There's a permanent live, a CCU controlled ground, and a permanent ground.

Just the two nodge I am pretty sure the light earths through the housing

Yours is a 3 door, so yes it grounds through the attachment points. So it's easy then. If one wire is permanent live, the other must be the CCU switched ground. ;)

Thanks again mate having had a look at the pics that were posted on the thread I was reading, the wires look brown to me so I think its safe to say the solid brown one is the live and the white tracer wire connects to the CCU

Different wiring colours on a FL2? Definitely no brown on my FL1... I posted my MGF rear view mirror change on the forum recently (I can post the link if needed). I took the power supplies from the lamp housing and made a short fly loom with a connector. Earth is through the mounting of the lamp to the roof :)

Interesting! Fortunately the logic of which wire is which is not too difficult - I needed to do this as the FL wiring is different from the MGF :)

That's the way I did it but my wires were brown not purple

Just a thought. Are you colour blind? That would explain the different colours in your vehicle. As a test, you could post a picture of your wiring on here, so lots of eyes can see the colours! ;)

I didn't realise what a difference it made LR should have fitted them from the start just need to get some 501 led bulbs and it will be nice and bright
