Hello! Newbie here! I hv an 06 RR 4.4,jag engine and the fuel pump wiring harness caught fire. I bought a new pigtail. The old pigtail has a fat brown and a fat white wire, however the new pigtail has a fat yellow and a fat red. Which one connects to which? Please help!

Hey there, is there any way you can trace the old wiring to the original plug and connect them up?
The old connector melted and singed all the wires into a ball. I did manage to separate them, and spread them out...here's a pic of the old wires and the new pigtail for connection. My worry is does the red splice into brown and yellow into white or vice versa!
 
If you can match the new wires to the original positions in the old plug then the colours will be irrelevant 👍
If in doubt it may need to be done by a pro'👍

Thank you. The only original wire color that exists on both is the first pink/ black striped one, all the rest are different colors.. May be time for a pro.i believe the red on the new goes to the brown on the old, which in turn makes the yellow and white then pair ..not sure,but last I knew,sparks n fuel weren't a fun " guess"! Thanks again!
 
You say the old plug had fat white and brown. Can you get to the wire bundle as it goes back towards the engine? If you can put a voltmeter on the white and brown wires you should be able to discover which is positive and negative (with the ignition on). On the new plug the positive wire is probably meant to connect to the red wire and negative to yellow. On the original wire bundle you could also check to see if the white or brown wire is grounded, ie., there is continuity to the the body. The wire with no continuity is likely the positive wire.
Consulting a wiring diagram is another option.
