P38A Autodim Rear View Mirror

I have a general question regarding the wiring of the autodim rear view mirror. I need to replace my cracked windscreen due to it being MOT time, it currently has the earlier fitting type. I also have a rear view mirror on hand that has the later fitting.

If I replace my windscreen with one that has the later fitting, can I adapt the wiring for the later style mirror to work?

From RAVE & BECM SID for < 1998 cars: (Diagram & BECM SID explanations don't match. not sure why the mirror needs to know when rear wiper is parked, and pin-1 seems to be a fused feed rather than a rear wiper signal ??)

Also after 1999 the wiring is completely different & uses 5 pins instead of three !!

I've got a manual tilt mirror on mine after the autodim unit failed and I couldn't source one without an effing mortgage
Bearing in mind there are two window anchor types as well.....

The later auto dim mirror is considerably cheaper on Ebay, thats why I bought one and found out there were two different types of fitting. I have the mirror on hand so thought why not use it if I need to replace the windscreen.

Does anyone know if there were any changes to the windscreen?
