For a standard TD5 110. I think the E.C.U under me seat is the first problem at about 20 inches . Tell me I'm wrong I need this info for getting to work Monday

Yeah its pre 2002 and I live and work on the west coast of Ireland. Its more like 28 inches to the E.C.U (20 was a bad guess)

Hi, as a rule, if no mods, the top of the wheel rim is land overs recommended limit, but a wading kit will raise that considerably. See axledeep.com.
The ECU is going to be a problem though, I seem to remember seeing extension leads on eBay a while ago, that allowed you mount the ECU up at roof level.
If you do that, let me know, as my RRc has the same underseat ECU, only a good doorseal keeping it dry!

Standard Disco 300 ... The boiw wave looks impressive, but is necessary to keep the water out of the air intake.

With the right technique, speed and momentum you can go a long way quite a bit deeper than Landrover recommend ...

Thanks for that Paul I knew about keeping up with the bow wave to keep the air intake above the water but I doubt that it would keep it out of the E.C.U though. The water was already above the wheel rims for the last few days, if it gets any worse I'll not bother. I'd hate to brake down in the middle of one of these floods.

It wasn't the depth as such it was the side current that made it deep. It got up over the bonnet so i rekon 3 foot at least on the air intake side.
I have just done a 50 mile diversion plus my 70 mile normal route to get home. The problem is they just close the roads here if they think a car wont get through so I dont get to try. Not sure I would try to drive through a swamped road in the pitch dark without knowing how deep it is anyway.

I wouldn't advise it either. Have you got a snorkel on your landy?

Standard 90 v8, 1.5 foot fords are fine, cleans the bottom well after a day out. not qqqquite like the pics above, but hopefully when we get waterproof (ish)

No Ratty I dont have a snorkel. Its supposed to be a working landy (thats what I told the wife) so all the mods have been whats needed. It looks like I could add a snorkel to that list now. I have been up to two foot of water or maybe more last week with no problems.
