Sudden pop now chuffed like a steam train really low on power heavy smoking
The more you rev the more it smokes oil in inlet Maybe from breather no signs of external compression loss eg around the heater plugs haven't checked for excessive compression breather

Wat do you guys rekon blown piston ??

Blown a boost pipe off the turbo/intercooler/or somewhere in between.

Unlikely on an NA....

If there's no smoke/pressure from the breather it's unlikely to be holed piston or rings. If main symptom is smoke from inlet then could it be valve seals?

Actually smoke in inlet could be too much oil from breather, you sure there's not excessive crankcase pressure?

Had the same problems myself.. A few questions, likely some steam/mist and unburnt diesel..?

Sounds like you may have head damage, or head gasket, although a really failed injection pump might show some of these signs if there's no water in the exhaust. Check your coolant colour and level, check for coolant in the oil, and oil in the coolant. Check your engine oil isn't being thinned by diesel fuel leaking in as mine was

Check all your rockers and valves too.

Although there may be some steps for troubleshooting, there may be no substitute for taking the head off and inspecting, as well as the timing cover. If it hasn't been done before by you, what do you really know of the engine?
