Evening everyone, hope someone can help. Just test drove a Series 2 TD5 today with an auto box in. When its put in reverse all is fine, but then when you put it back into drive the M & S warning lights come on and the car drives in 'limp mode'.
However, if they come on, then you turn the car off and start it again they go off, any idea of the fault? is it a big issue? costly? This doesn't happen all the time, sometime you can drive the Disco and the warning lights don't come on at all. The current owner says its a solenoid on the side of the gear box thats sticking causing the warning lights to come on.

Any advice???????

Hello and Welcome,

You would have been better off saying hi here in the intro section and putting a technical question in the vehicle specific area, as more peopel who have those vehicles will see it and could answer.

However, I do not have an auto, but iirc, you could try searching ( top right hand of screen ) for XYZ switch.
Although I may be wrong, LOL.

Oh, and double check if it has 2 working keys and the EKA code is supplied in the paperwork.

Good luck.

Cheers

Yep! Don't shop at M&S. Lidl is much better! :)

My brothers disco 2 had the same fault. The gearbox switch needs stripping and cleaning, then rebuilding and sealing. At this point, it needs putting back on and setting up (if you work by yourself, this can be a pain in the ass). I worked "the stick" while he adjusted the switch. Once done, just nip it all up. We sorted it at the back end of last year, and haven't touched it since.
