lowering a disco...

I know I am an old c*nt but I totally do not get lowering a land rover of any description same as performance mods to make em go the speed of light,if you want them things buy a TVR.
Sorry for the rant but horses for courses IMHO ;)

its not about lowering a landy for any other reason other than 'cos you can, its not a performance related thing, its a style and custom thing, ideas like this (not this specific one but these kind of ideas) push the boundries and help move the motor industry forward. We all know that the 90/00's was very much a time of 'boyracers' and alot of the things seen on boyracer cars would never have even been dreamt off but are now common place on modern cars, think big wheels, I remember people putting 17's on hatchbacks and it was pushing the boundry, nowdays modern hot hatches come with 17's, 18's or even 19's on some...

Alot of the ideas people have are absolute rubbish but every now and again someone does something that changes the game...

Do not cut the springs, they wont sit right and will probably just fall out when you go round a corner. extreme 4x4 do -2" springs but you will probably want shorter dampers as well to match. this setup would probably be quite expensive plus it would probably look silly unless you get some nice big expensive wheels. to improve handling, roll bars and wider wheels are a better place to start. but at the end of the day, its still a couple of tons of landrover.

Found it:

imho it looks very very cool...

That series 1 is so cool! Cruising around it that would be mega! V8, no roof, no seatbelts, just chilling.

Sick idea!

On the lowered disco front, definitely give it a go!

I wouldn't go for alloys tbh, id look at 15x10 modulars on low pros, standard arches but give them a roll with a scaff tube or baseball bat. Will have to be careful cos of aluminium, and needs to be a 3dr to roll the rears, but that would be so sick.

Get the idea by taking the springs out and slam it down low on the rims, choose the tyre size and then get springs made locally.

Even easier, put it on bags? Get a twin damper setup at the front to mount the (single) damper outside of the airspring, and youve got a ghetto car.

That series 1, YES!

its a shame you couldnt fit suspension that would drop it for road use and then lift it for off road use..... isnt that what they do with the new uns?

Anyway mate go and do whatever makes you happy and **** the rest, your doing it to your motor with your money and in your time, as long as nobody gets hurt then whats the problem? if we all shared the same opinion and done the same things the world would be a pretty dull place. I will NEVER be part of the herd.

I dont agree with a lot of bollocks other people get up to but at the same time I dont really care - Live and let live! (one life - let other people live it!)

BUT: I do think big bling alloys on Landys look ****e - in my opinion...:)

Yeah I'll pass on the convertible thanks ! :D

I do feel what's happening with that other pic though. Unbelievably low, must have chassis mods!

In fairness the rims are a bit out if date now, Cali style used to be all about that but now USDM has taken over a bit more and it's all about down and out, dub style basically but not as smooth.

Take that slammed disco and pop it on some 15x10 Modulars. Gives me the wants!!

air suspension!!! you could get a setup from a classic rangie or adapt a p38 kit.

Cool idea.

Chop the roof a few inches and then an air suspension so the car can raise and lower as required. Tub the arches to allow the wide rims to sit nicely and then perhaps mid engined V8 so it makes a really nice track hot rod.

well thanks everyone for your help, ideas, opinions and general **** throwing lol.....
looks like a project for the new year....
and air sus and low pros id already thought of... glad someone mentioned it....
