Hi all

Sadly my range rover (2004/54 Td6 vogue) has failed its MOT due to the worn uj on the lower steering column. Ie, where the column meets the rack.

My question is where to get a lower steering column from other than the costly dealers. I've looked on the web and a few used ones have come up but I'm not keep on that idea. They might be worse than the one I've got!

Anybody have ideas on a part number or where I could get one?

Thanks
Andy

The lower steering column sections aren't that expensive, should be able to get them through most LR Parts retailers, i.e. Rimmer Bros or Island 4x4.

Do a google search, you should find the part no as well.

Part No is: LR023044

i've just fitted a used part no problems, 12 months ago these were £150+vat lr have now bumped the price to £300+vat island 4x4 have quoted me £230+vat for a genuine Lr part, these don't seem to be supplied by any other source

I know the ethic about a used part in working condition but let's face it not everybody on eBay is ethical when listing a 'used' item.

I couldn't find any pattern parts, just the LR one at the £300 to £350 mark so Island at £230 +vat isn't so bad. Thanks very much for the info

Cheers for the help guys.

In truth I've had much more difficulty with pattern parts being not fit for purpose than I have with second-hand.

<edit> I've just looked some pics of the part, and those UJ's look way too light to me. Under-designed. So second-hand part is probably worn too.....
