Just had my fuel guage drop to empty and light come on with 3/4 full tank??Is there any fuse in line or is it time to get the pump/sender out of the tank?Cheers for any help

there's no fuse for that, it can be the sender/it's soldered contacts or a bad contact along the circuit , to not remove the pump in vain find a resistor between 15 - 100 ohm(if you dont have solder two wires on a side light bulb and use that), unplug the pump and insert the resistor across pins 2-3 of the plug(pink/black - green/black wires) with ignition on, then the gauge must rise between middle and top according to the resistance(15=top), if it does it means the problem is at the sender and you must remove the pump, if it doesnt we'll speak then

Hi, I take it that there's not a huge puddle of fuel at the rear. Just thinking the "green fuel pipe" gone and dumped your diesel.

Last night as I started her the fuel guage came back to life and low fuel light extinguished(This was despite trying turning on ignition a couple of times during the day)-still not working.
It worked for about 1/4 mile in traffic.then as I pulled away agin-it dropped to nothing and low fuel light on again? Then stayed like that all the way home.
So maybe bad connection somewhere.
No diesel (Or biodiesel ) in road behind me

the most common problem is where the wires of the sender are soldered to the potentiometer but there are two connectors involved between the sender and the gauge as well so that's why better do that test i said to not remove the pump in vain

oh yes I plan to try your test SF,thanks a bunch for your swift help.
Where do i find these connections?under the carpet in the boot next to the pump?Thank you

to get to those connections you have to remove the pump that's why i said to rule out the rest of the circuit first(pointed with red arrows)...though it can be the potentiometer itself too, it can be bought as a spare but quite expensive(YAD500040)
