Anyone give any guidance on this one please?

G4 1.8 Kalahari has had new tyres, no detectable play in driveshafts, new VCU and bearings. 128k miles.

On slight inclines it drones a low note throbbing vibration but only between 50 and 60 mph. Over 60 is fine. On the level is fine, any gear other than 5th is fine.

Is there a 5th gear defect that could produce this?
Can driveshafts drone even without detectable play in the joints?

Fabulous car otherwise, this let's it down. Much improved with geolanders instead of grabber ats but it has resonance just in this speed band. Drop to 4th, even reducing speed to put revs at same as before, no issues. Engine is 2750 ish in 5th when problem occurs.

Ideas please?!

My SE had a slight vibration at 50 ish, must noticed off power.
I'm pretty sure it stemmed from the front prop CV joint, which did have some play, and occasionally made a metallic "ting" noise when shunting between forward and reverse.

Thanks, this niggle doesn't compare to your recent encounters!!
Had the vehicle up in the air, front prop and driveshafts seemed fine to the hand twist and shake!

Some play in lower engine mount so changed that. Only when car is pulling though, it is a drone that makes you feel like your in too high a gear.

Will recheck all joints and shafts, slight weep from gearbox oil seal so may change that and the shaft anyway.

Vibrating in a Freelander gaffaw.
