so thinking I was doing the right thing by going polybush (Bearmach kit) due to simplicity in fitting - every time I fit the sleeve to the trailing arm lower bush it pushes the dam thing out each side by apx 3mm - never gonna fit that in!!

Has anyone else encountered this? At a loss atm, have emailed Bearmach too - as my holiday plans are in limbo!!

Photo attached!

Just put it in a vice, and push them together, or just jack it up between the flanges on the chassis. Use greased strips of metal to guide the bushes in between the flanges. When you do up the bolt it will pull it all in.

They were in sealed Bearmach bags directly from them so hope they aren’t cheap knock offs haha,

I’ve had a pop with the vice but it doesn’t help, loving the idea of jacking em up with sliders though!

its common you spread the bracket open with a large hammer fit then bolt squeezes the bracket back to shape

Thats the way I do it. Just force em in, and do em up. If you have lubricated them with grease or oil, it could be that the one on the other side is being forced out by hydraulic action, though. Try drying them off, and wiping inside the tube with a rag.

Yes life once again with the green oval!! :) already snapped the rear strut mount stud :)

That being said the retard who installed the struts didn’t bother with the inner washers!!!

If you mean the shock absorber top and bottom mounts, those are very good to polybush, they last for years.

Cheers guys, I’ll aim for the smash approach to get us back on the roads for the time being, and go for a refresh at a later date when I’ve got less of a tight schedule!

Turboman - I’ve just gone for standards at the struts for the time being, with a view to upgrading to poly at the same time as the struts.

Squeeze them in as tight as you can and then you can usually shoehorn them in with something flat - I've used wallpaper scrapers and mortar trowels to good effect in the past.

Wallpaper scrapers at the ready - I’ve also nipped it tight in a vice overnight see if it settles down a little!

Tempted to go and fit the led lights to the dash in the meantime!

All sorted cheers guys. Fettled it in temporarily for the short term with a beat of heave ho and the hammer. Bearmach got back in touch to confirm it wasn’t right too.

Arse end bushes all squared away for the west coast!
