Need some advice as always this is a big lurning curve this Discovery 200Tdi.

Coming down the motor way then lost power. Engine is fine but now drive.
I selected Diff lock and maneged to limp it the last mile of a 86 mile journey.

Any ideas.......I think it might be a drive shaft.
Both props are ok but when I turned the front it had loads of play so suppect a front dive shaft.

The issue is i need to get home on Sunday.

I have a complete front axle in the back but not many tools.

Any help or advice please as I think I'm going to have a buissy day tomorrow.

highly unlikely a shaft will have let go on motorway, more likely to be diff. remove prop at offending end and drive home in diff lock. could have also jumped out of gear on transfer box.

Whereabouts are you, if you're not home? Maybe someone can help with tools/workspace etc to get you going again ...

yeah - but Choppertrash is in Soton. just not contactable. If OP PM's me, i might contact em, unless they contact me furst - but at the mo no info from the OP.

Thanks for the info guys I have sent some contact details. I have a complete axle but no jack or axle stands so I think it will either be a complete axle change or strip the left corner and swop the lot out. If thats no good take the front prop off and drive home slow or brake down recovery back to Oxford.

I will be moving down to Southampton end of the year so all my tools will be down here then, just not now(BUGER) but also any good contatcs will be good for the future.

I drove from Salisbury Plains to Blackpool with the front prop off after diff lock wouldn't switch off, not too bad, plenty of shunting in the box but quite driveable.

No luck - S71 can't make it.

No probs driving it except no way to stop diff being driven by road wheels :(.

Got till tomoz lunch to sort it tho:). Sooner the better.

No response from Drew yet.

Any one Portsmouth way?

Disco - is the diff noisy? Or just loss of drive?
As S71 says, removing prop is easiest, but yu risk destroying the diff on drive back..... That is, if it IS the diff?
