It's booked in with my mate(who's got his own garage) hopefully next Saturday, I have two new bags (dunlop) I think they was about £150.00 if not close to it, I have the little springs as well, I guess by looking at them there quite easy to fit,also found a pair of ride height sensors on ebay for £40.00 so might get them and change them, just to be sure but I have read that, you need to re live and set up the suspension again, is there a definitive guide for this, in stupid circumstances
With regard to the ride height sensors, If the battery is disconnected before any work is done on the sensors then it should not be necessary to recalibrate the ride height after replacement. If it's not disconnected you probably will have to recalibrate the ride height but you now have a Nanocom so if the worst comes to the worst ....
If the old bags are the original ones then the air pipes will have to be cut with a Stanley knife to fit them into the sockets on the Dunlop bags. Make sure that they're cut square and clean with no scratches on the outside before they are pushed home. They are self sealing. The air bags can be done with the battery still connected.
I think that there is a procedure on the forum for recalibrating the ride height using a Nanocom but without using calibration blocks. It involves jacking the body using the tow bar so that you get the correct gap between the top of each wheel and the wheelarch and using the Nanocom to enter the values for each side. @sierrafery knows how to do it so I will defer to him in this case.

Ok thank for the advice, when we change these bits will it matter that my mate has the ramps that goes under the chassis and lets the wheels hang type?

The measurement ( from the workshop manual ) is 473mm +- 15mm , from ctr wheel to the inside edge of wheelarch.

The readout from the sensors you will see on nanocom will be approx 149 ish, Of the ones I have worked on there is a slight variation between left and right hand side on the sensor output reading.

Very easy to do on nanocom if you do run into trouble.

If I need to adjust ,then I plug nanocom in with engine running and doors closed, driver window open and measure the distance btw ctr wheel and wheelarch, adjust height on nanocom until both sides measure correct. then save the settings.

thanks so much for the advice guys, again really helpful. missus has just arrived home, so i though i would check the ride height just to see, shes sat at 470mm with a couple of saddles in the back, so bang on i think, for the momment anyway:)

Right booked in for Saturday, what's the best way of cutting the pipes, I was thinking of a push bike cable cutter?
Any other ideas, just trying to think ahead of anything else that may go wrong

I wouldn't use anything that's likely to crush or distort the pipe. TBH you're probably best to use a new blade in a Stanley knife against a block of wood and carefully roll the pipe under the blade. You're probably going to need a new box of plasters too!
 
If they are original it should have nuts and o-rings, I undone them and cut through the o-ring, that way managed to keep the pipe length also ment I didn't distort the pipe, the new ones the pipes will be push fit.
 
so new air bags fitted along with ride height sensors, couldnt get the compressor to run though!!!, managed to pump air in using the nanocom via the sls, and then the compressor finally worked, i guess it was out of its parameters. anyway correct height maintained, the 40mm off road lift works as it should, so hopefully thats another job crossed off the list:D:D

One job done, more on the radar,
I have been reading up on how to make the Td5 more driveable, and is seems a lot of people do the de-cat and the erg delete,
Any words of wisdom or woe from you guys

Not done a decat, but the EGR was quite straightforward. Full kit on the bay for about 40 quid, including the blanking plate, a stainless steel flanged pipe to replace the whole EGR valve, all gaskets and two little rubber blanking plugs.
The hardest parts of the job are removing the existing connection on the exhaust manifold/downpipe; the bolts have had a bit of time to really get bedded in, and fitting the little blanking plugs, do not drop them, you'll have a hell's own job finding them again! The downpipe should give if you use plenty of releasing oil such as "Plus-Gas" and a very well fitting allen key in a socket set wrench. DO NOT think that WD40 will do anything more than make the air smell nice!
Don't expect any vast improvements in performance, but your engine will thank you in the long run for not making it breathe in fumes from fuel which it had already burnt.

Is that the correct terminology, as I can't find any under £100.00
I know there was a guy on here that made them with buttons but belive he's not around anymore
 
Yes , they sometimes appear in fleabay.

Or you could try some of the Facebook ( Discovery / D2 ) pages which I have seen them on.
