Lift Pump Problem

I use them quite a bit at work, little tap on with a hammer and away you go, especially useful for torx and allen headed bolts that have seized.

You can also use them with an impact gun. I've probably had mine four ish years and only used them half a dozen times but it's usually on bolts that are really hard to get at like yours

The Irwin bolt grips are very well thought of on here. No one says they've regretted buying them.
When there's something I want to hammer in an inaccessible place I've sometimes put a rigid bar on the item and hit it where there is room. Obviously you don't get the full force of the blow, but it can be enough to help a socket onto a nut or bolt.

If you have a tight bolt ALWAYS use a single hex socket of the correct size on it. For instance trying to undo a 3/8", 1/2", 3/8" AF bolt with a 10 mm, 13 mm, 15 mm bihex socket can be fatal.

I dont even see the reason for 12-point sockets. They caused me a whole load of bother in the past, before i spend too much money on 6-point.

Amazon does the irwin sets at about £16 for the set in the case (but you have to spend £4 on somthing else to get the free delivery) and about £19 on the expansion set (might be the other way arround)

The expansion set goes down to about 8mm i think.

Im not sure how well they work by hand, but, with an impact wrench, they certainly get purchase.

Sorry Mate just seen post.
Just to update probably wont be able to have another go until Sunday, not got time through the week to dark by the time ive finished work.
Anyway I got these ones http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p63045, so hopefully I will be able to get it shoved on far enough to turn it.
Will update with photos when I start.
Cool. Good luck, not that you will need it with those.

Finally go the B ;;;;RD off, Am stuck at the moment. cant get new lift pump to sit straight on block. tried spinning it a little but still wont go. any ideas??? need it back together before dark.

thanks

turn engine over so cam lobe faces away ,ensure lever is pushing against out side of cam and it hasnt slipped under it, even the you still need top push against the spring a little

Thanks James should I keep trying this until it sits in flush?, did try a couple of times but still not there yet.

Got it to push flush with a little spring pressure, got the bolts started but the new bolts in the kit are longer then, the old ones. got them so far in but its still loose, should I be putting the old shorter bolts back in??

Have you got the plastic/fiber spacer fitted between lift pump and engine block?
Yes Mate, but after reading up don't think I need it as my old one never had one, anyway put the old shorter bolts back in and they tightened right up.
Tried the primer and does not seem to pump diesel through yet.
