A guy I work with does abit off roading in Cumbria, he said he would come out with me, he's a reccy mech by trade so we should be ok when we get stuck. Other than that, it's me and the winch, but like I said, in toying with ideas. If it's not practical then it's not getting done.
Thanks for the heads up on the tyre brand, I'm off to have a look now.
will he be taking a foden:D

Yes I do know that in law there is no such thing as a "Greenlane", it's a BOAT ( Byway Open to All Traffic).
I can acquire a set of off road tyres for nothing. I'm not certain of the sizes I can get tho. Where is a good place to start looking for the tyres you mentioned?

Not necessarily true, green lane is the generig term for a road that it's legal to drive along whether you have the landowners permission or whatever - SOME of these are BOATs but not exclusively.

Can you link the website for the legal definition of a green lane then? I searched for hours and could only find references to it bring used as an informal description of disused/unsurfaced road.

a lift wont provide anymore clearance you could lift it 10ft but yr axles n diffs dont get any higher
A Freelander dosn't have axles, it has driveshafts. The diffs are bolted to the chassis, so with a lift and bigger tyres you can get an extra 31/2" clearance under the centre of it.

Do you have any info on a lift kit? I searched eBay, and google and could only find specialist order ones, much the same as the snorckle.

That's exactly right - "green lane" is a generic term for an unmetalled road, of which there are several types, including, but not limited to, byways open to all traffic (which are highways without tarmac!)

I saw a vitara other day that someone had put bigger springs on front and the Camber of the wheels was a ****ing joke. It was sat on the outer shoulder of the tyres. I reckon it would do same on a gaylander with it being similar set up
don't give a toss to what you reckon, you know nowt
