last nights goings on

Contrary to common belief last night was NOT about heavy handed modding. It was about keeping deliberate SPAM off Landyzone.​

Last night happened because members of another site decided they were going to make a seemingly innocent question up and then answer it with a link to their site.​

DESPITE WHAT IS BEING DENIED ELSEWHERE THE PERSON LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WAS AN ALTER EGO OF THE SAME PERSON HE HIMSELF WAS LOOKING FOR.​

That is all that needs to be known.​

They were dealt with in the same way that any other spammer is dealt with. ​

WE DO NOT LIKE BANNING PEOPLE AND DO NOT WANT TO BAN PEOPLE. PLEASE DON'T MAKE US HAVE TO CONTINUE.​

Right, that's made my mind up.

Last night, I complained about heavy-handed moderation / censorship in a thread.
Then I tried to help someone who I believed was genuinely looking for someone who was at that time on another forum, so I posted a link.
I was immediately banned without warning. Coincidence?

Ratty's post shows a level of paranoia, consistent with someone who has let the power go to his head.

There was no OLHI conspiracy - we / they aint that bright.

I don't particularly wish to be part of a forum subject to heavy handed moderation and censorship.

I have absolutely no wish to be part of a forum moderated by blatant liars.

To the vast majority of LZ members (who are great) - it's been nice knowing you, thanks for all the help I've received and I hope that I've managed to help one or two of you too.

seeing as this is still (just) an open forum it's best that everyone knows the full facts - and currently there's a bit of a difference between the official word and the common mans (not offense trewey) history of events
 
A well established and respected member of BOTH forums thought I was being biased towards one of the partys in the wire size calculator thread. As he was friends with both the partys he asked if I could strip it back to the basics.

This I did.

The onslaught then started. I ignored it. No matter what we do we can never please everyone.

The reason for the shenanigans is..........

GRUNT used an alter ego (JOE90) to ask how to get hold of GRUNT (himself). Trewy posted a link to OLHI. Nothing wrong with that is there? Until you look at the thread on the other site congratulating themselves on this and how Trewey was trying not to upset ****TY and that he was taking the softly softly approach to spamming so as not to arouse my suspicion.

I spent about 45 mins checking and rechecking the facts before making my decision.

I sent a pm to Trewey notifying him that I was about to ban him for 3 days. 5 mins later I did just that.

About 11pm lat night I then unbanned Trewey as I thought that he had learnt from his experience and that I saw no reason to punish him any longer.

so the posts from grunt and joe90 all came from the same IP address ?

and Trewy was part of this "plot" ?

someones had far too many mince pies recently

Joe90 is is bloke I worked with for a few weeks a couple of years ago. He has never had a computer and has very limited computer skills. He was interested in LandyZone so seeing as how I'm a careing and helpful soul I set up an account for him, as he didn't have a computer he didn't have an email addy so I used my work one. At the time he did have access to the computers at the college he was working at.

The fred he posted was genuine and didn't have anything to do with OLHI. He wanted to invite me to his wedding.

Those members who know me and Grunt personally, will know where the truth lies.

If I got it wrong Trewey I apologise.

I can only go on the information to hand. I used I.P. addresses cross referenced with posts that you yourself made on the other forum. If I got it wrong then I am sorry. I didn't take the decision lightly and spent a long time contemplating what to do about it. I don't confess to being perfect but YOU WERE NOT BANNED BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE SAID ON OR ABOUT THE WIRE THREAD.

As the person that contacted me did it via pm I cannot disclose their identity. They MAY own up to it themselves after reading this but they are under no onus to do so.

I DID NOT EDIT THE THREAD TO CAUSE ARGUEMENTS BUT RATHER TO STOP THEM AS WAS REQUESTED.
 
I am the only one who is geting fed up with all this bull **** that is going on mostly thanks to olhi wanting to **** landyzone mods off at any chance they get, realy the mods on olhi must be so simple minded.

As for over modderation i think this place needs some and Ratty and sirus do a good job most of the time so thanks chaps.

well as on the other side they just use there mod power to **** people off by changing user name etc which i think is a worce type of modderation

I have just double checked the ip addresses again.

THEY ARE DEFINATELY THE SAME IP ADDRESS. LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT SUCKERED TOO.

My apology still stands to you. I will take it as the truth that you knew nothing about it and that the other posts may be coincidence. Grunt on the other hand is not telling the truth.
 
thats quite easy as it happens sean..

one if what grunt says is true(and knowing the bloke personally i believe him)..and he set up the account on a work email and registered it for him then the registration ip will be exactlly the same..

also ever heard of proxy servers ?? these allow you to surf and dont show your true ip(its only hidden but can tell you that rattys account will not give him full access to the ip ping buttons in the admin cp, only the software owner as this facility, he will however be able to check first registration ip and current destination ip(the proxy)..

a proxy can be many things, cnuts hiding behind fake doors or also a biz, libery, collage, school so on and so on..

now i have all ready told ratty that he was over handed and also Pm'ed Roy with my concerns for his biz as yes it is a biz and with rattys actions he is hurting not only current but future biz this site will make.

as for spamming, i allow any link to Lz on one laugh as me and Roy agreed that despite our differences we can both co exsit and we both benifit from cross forum traffic...

oh and ratty remember you are a unpaid supervisor of a public forum, not the next dictator of a small country...

thanks for your concern. I still stand by the fact that AT THE TIME OF THE POSTINGS BOTH USERS WERE USING THE SAME IP'S.

think you will find we don't have any mods mate, so the simple one is obviously you as you failed to notice this small fact ?

and your only problem with one laugh is mondo, who btw gave you just as much **** on this forum as he did on the other..

I seem to remember more than one person being sent to the sin bin during the rein of slob. I cannot see how sending people to the sin bin is 'over handed'
