Hi,

I have a landy (Series iii 74 petrol 2.25) thats been dry stored for about 15 years; I have cranked the engine by hand so I know it's not seized and have changed the oil, filters, electrics etc (except the coil). This weekend I cranked it and there was no joy just turned over but did not fire; The spark was okay but no fuel was being delivered to the carb so I replaced the fuel pump (after stripping down the original) and now fuel is being delivered. She still won't start so is the next step to strip the carb (zenith I think) or is there a simple way of diagnosing the fault?

to answer the question whats stoping her fireing
is there a spark ?
is fuel reaching the spark?
is there good compresion ?
sparks easy you want a nice big blue1
fuel are yer plugs wet
have you checked the compresion
if you suspect the carb put some fuel down it n try starting it should splutter into life with this or you can spray wd40 or similar down while cranking it over should sputter but be carefull of blow back !
if you suspect spark check yer timing and also that the sparks a nice big blue 1 also if the plugs are old change em!
compresion suspected hmm there are some bodges but check it before you try any

I reckon the faults in the carb..you have fuel, spark and air..shouldn't need anything else..don't matter its been stood 15 years or 15 days..its a lump of metal not an animal..strip, clean, replace if necessary...you seem to have changed most stuff so a carb wont be too much trouble.

what storm says..... the carb is probably gummed up with bad fuel:rolleyes:
