dont furget to think VERY CAREFULLY about what you want to isolate, because that will affect what current needs to flow through the relay.

Would be for a tdi motor or a 2.25 petrol if that helps

not really - coz they use different electrics - as stated above. What would yu want to isolate - i like the idea of the fuel pumpon a doozil. A petrol woud need to be a bit fiddly, else it cud be easily bypassed..

All I would isolate is the starter solinoid and the fuel cut off on the tdi
and starter solinoid and coil on the petrol
and starter solinoid and coil on the petrol

i have a minor prob with both of those yu posted, Trewy - both would work fine, but i think it would be better if the system used a "standard" relay, rather than a "special". It wouldnt look out of place and could be checked easily with any std relay.

yea, but then yer gotta use 2 relays....
anyway, a latching relay is hardly "special"!
waft the magnet to set, waft again to re-set - no need for separate re-set switch.
