The dates for Land Rally 2011 have been announced … 14th to 22nd September 2011

Unlike previous years, these new dates don’t clash with either LRO Peterborough or Abingdon 4x4 Festival, as Landy Rally now falls directly between both shows!

What is Landy Rally?

Launched in 2007, Landy Rally is a 3,000 mile / 4,500 km mile non-speed charity drive for all makes of non-modified 4x4 vehicle covering 11 countries in 9 days. Teams raise funds for their nominated charities, no min/max limits.

Starting in Valkenburg near Maastricht, Holland, we pass through the Black Forest in Germany, drive the legendary Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps plus a further two mountain passes, BBQ & off-roading at Val d’Isere in the French Alps (the largest and highest off-road site in Europe at 2,700m), camping alongside Lake Como in Italy, a night at a Mediterranean beach resort in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, shopping in the duty-free Principality of Andorra, driving across the magical Spanish Pyrenees (tarmac & off-road including two evening dinners included in the entry fee), off-road driving + BBQ with a local french 4x4 club in the beautiful Dordogne region, concluding with a prize-giving dinner in Calais. All this plus the teams have raised thousands for their nominated charities every year – over £100,000 since we started! Who can ask for more? The camaraderie and fun associated with Land Rally is an experience you will never forget!!

See www.landyrally.com for details.

As per usual, should the mods consider this post to be spam, then obviously wield the axe as appropriate. However, unlike ‘Divvy-Dvds’ and his Spanish 4x4 Expeditions, when I run commercial 4x4 tours to the Pyrenees next year, I won’t be advertising them in enthusiast’s forums under the pretence of “anyone want to join in?”. Naive, daft or just trying on ... clearly the latter!

Thought I'd whet your appetite ...

Landy Rally Winner 2007 (Defender 110) – “Sparks Will Fly” – UK

Landy Rally Winner 2008 (Defender 110) – “Stuck In The Mud” – UK

Landy Rally Winner 2009 (Defender 130) – “Landyprikkers 1” – Holland

Landy Rally Winner 2010 (G4 Discovery II) – “The Flintstones” – Holland

I believe their link was redirected to a place that sold Spanish Fly

Lets face it there is a subtle but definite difference betwen a charity event whose link points toward a dodgy site selling penis enlargements and spanish fly...

and a charity event that actually wants to generate cash for a worthy cause. Now I for one believe that there are enough large penises floating around the forum and advertising one more does no one any good at all (unless you happen to be one of those with a very small penis in which case you might want to take advantage of the link mentioned!)

Genuine Charity causes with Landy connections...err.... isn't that part of what we's all about?

Of course... taking this a little further... if you ARE afflicted with a tiny member... then I guess the spanish fly site would be appealing to a worthy cause and should be allowed to stay...

We might refer to it as an "Open Fly"?

Indeed...and the gentleman customers would be 'the fly in the ointment'..
I am trying.... but I just cant findone to fit....

Even if one ZIPS into the locale only BRIEFLY the puns are at best tenuous... you know how I would hate to give way but I think you win on this one! LOL:D

Just to be clear I like the landyrally, if fact I am seriously considering doing it dressed as a Pirate :D

Anyone know where I can get a Jolly Roger for the land rover ??

Gotta say my bit, although no innuendos on my part because I don’t think I could ‘keep it up’ (sorry!)

Storm99: Looks jolly good fun.. But at £860 it ought to be really.....eek!

You have to say though, that’s for two people. Just for tag-along 4x4 tours around the Alps and Pyrenees, the 4x4 tour companies can charge £860 per person, PLUS they don’t include a prize-giving dinner, another couple of communal dinners and a BBQ, prize-money (often donated to the winning team's charity), all camping, the off-road fees at Val d’Isère, trophies, etc. If I couldn’t provide value-for-money, I simply wouldn’t do it.

Robint: why can this put on here and other CHARITY events be withdrawn

Ryder: Genuine Charity causes with Landy connections...err.... isn't that part of what wer'e all about?

Obviously I would agree with you, but l wanna be very clear about this - Landy Rally is not an out ‘n’ out charity fund-raising event, it is more or less a treasure hunt type event (as we award points for daft daily tasks), driving some fantastic tarmac roads which in turn lead to the off-road tracks in the Pyrenees we all love – dusty ‘laning so to speak. We would do all this anyway, but if we can raise a few bob for a worthy cause at the same time, then that’s the icing on the 4x4 cake. Point is, anyone who enters Landy Rally are ‘one of us’, so we are all like-minded people. Or put another way, can’t see many antis joining our little band! That’s what makes the event so special. Ahhhhhhh!!!!! :lvhug-035:
