Hi All,

A new (when it's delivered!) Defender owner here. My mum's friend recently wrote (and illustrated) a book about an old Landy that some of you might like? My little 2 year old loves it.

A few more details at:

Welcome to Landy Books

Nothing in it for me, I just think it's a great book that I read our little one every night before bed!

Probably wouldn't have been shot down if it had been posted in the right section?!

Maybe a nicer way to go about it that f off though? I have never returned to sites because of responses like that. Supposed to be a community?!

it is and if peps dont like it then they wont fit in.

I did genuinely try and find the "right" section and thought this was it?

Apologies if not and feel free to delete the thread.

Anyway, 110 XS Defender on a 57 place being delivered next week and I cannot freaking wait!!!

It maybe spam, but it would suit the nephew perfectly... if i could just work out at what age range it is aimed at... website has lots of lovely drawings and a bit of info about the author, but, not too much about the book and its target audience...

Is it gonna be in any shops? Would rather have a flick through first before buying it! :)

Mike - at the risk of getting flamed again...

I would say best target age is 3-5ish. It's not a particularly long book (ermm - 20ish pages?). Takes me about 5 mins to read it to our 2 year old.

Not sure what shops it's available in - not that many that I know of. "Fender" comes out next year - about a Defender (of course) but no idea what the story is about yet.

what size pages does the book have and do you know the author?
may be spam, but i opened it out of my choice after it had been sat in the inbox for a couple of days.
would suit my 2 year old too, but as already said, would prefer to flick thru before buying.

edit- ok so just re read first post and probably answered me own question.
still, what size is it?

Ermm - the pages are a wee bit smaller than A4 and the author is a friend of my mum - I don't really know her well but she made a lovely teddy for our little boy!

I can try and find out what shops it's in - might just be Cornwall so far.

Ayone know if she's still writing them underground? I know Tata shut her down (bastards) but, I know she was working on the 3rd book and hoped it may have been released under a slightly different name / format, like "generic 4x4 type vehicle as used on farms and alike"

Hi Bump,

The third book in the series (I believe) was titled 'landy's new home'.

As you say, Tata shut her down for copyright infringement, (bastards indeed!), and I have a feeling she sold off all of the books for a knockdown price when she was closing down.

She asked people to write to her solicitor with wishes for her to continue writing, and the copyright infringement being lifted, but I dont think it ever worked.

Anyway, the 3 books she managed were, 'Landy', 'Fender', and 'Landys new home'.

Hope that helps!
Tom

how petty to shut it down, would have thought the publicity would be a good thing, I would have endorsed it for a small cut of any profits if I were them.

If they were to continue a new artist would be in order, that landy front looks plain silly imho
