ive been put off them for life with the rust..... i know this is a thing on all vehicles....buy jimnys are great at crumbling underneath.

Land Rovers can and do rust really bad, once past 10/15 years old then you are on borrowed time corrosion wise.
P38 do not seem to rust, but the rest of the car is questionable.

8k will buy something nice, unless you want a defender.
The most comfortable and best bang for your buck is a Discovery, but they of course also rust, the newer the disco the more expensive they are to maintain.

P38 (or any RR) is a full time job keeping on top of everything, after you’ve fixed it, but doable with <8K if you’re wise with it. L322 could also be an option, maybe even a rough RR Classic
Discos are more than capable of greenlaning and off-roading, as standard, plentiful and reasonably priced in general.
We will skip Freelanderers
Unsure how much a decent 2 1/4 goes for?

There’s plenty of chioice with Landys it’s more finding a decent one that speaks to you and sticking with the git you got sorta thing. Have a look and chat in the different forums get an idea of what you like. There’s nothing they can’t help or advise you on whatever you go with.
