Land rover 110 wont go past 50MPH!!

whats the point you were willing to turn fuel up put not check it was in diff lock in case your dad found out ,whats he going to say about checking t/box ,wouldnt you expect a diesel to black smoke on start up ,is this a hobby asking questions but then not using info to find out
 
I wasnt goin to turn the fuel pump up, i was askin could that be a reason why. I dont really care what he says anymore. Im sure it had a new fuel filter fitted.
 
Im not sure, surpose guessd it was fitted right....
I cant remember who fitted it, might of been bloke who did engine or we know a bloke that specailises is land rovers. But i cant remember lol
 
ave you read up on how to tell what ratio transfer box you have yet ?

worked out the tyre size ?

I phoned the bloke who built the engine and he said it sounds like a engine not getting enough fuel. I checked it and im sure its not stuck in diff lock or anything like that. Im not sure if he changed the transfer box but not sure if he would of had to or not. So it sounds like its the fuel pump
 
have you checked its got good clean fuel supply with no air ,checked cam as well as pump timing,air supply to and from turbo,put clear plastic pipe in between filter and front banjo on pump ,checked front banjo has large hole rear has small,probably no as you wouldnt even check if it was in diff lock at the start ,
 
you still at it ? honestly if james martin gives a direction to look at then take it ,also buy a manual it will help no end lad.it's dirty hands time.did you ever check the diff lock and gearbox?
 
Yes its not stuck in bloody diff lock!!

I dont understand im sure the old engine had the same problem but not 100% sure cuz it was knackered! But wouldnt he had to setup the fuel pump on the new engine when that was fitted?

My dad drives it at 50mph and seams to think that its 'normal' for it to go loud at 45-50mph and if you go above 50 then the turbo kicks in and he thinks that normal. Ive spoken on the phone to a bloke who installed new parts for the old engine (he a land rover specialist) and when i said it will only do 50 pushing it he went 'is that it' it should be able to do 80 easy and i was like it can get no where near 80! Ive had enough of keep nagging him and saying its not right but all he says is thats fast enough! :mad: I used to drive at 60 when i was a learner and used to drive with instructor....

The other day when i was driving on a road that was national speed limit, i was doing about 40-45mph because i tend not to drive at 50, and i got caught up by a old morris minor!! i kept sayin to my self please dont over take. kept sayin that LOL. Ive had enough of talkin to my dad about it, i did phone land rover specail bloke he said he would have a look on the sly for me but never got back to him and cba anymore so **** it keep drivin at them speeds..... Thx for the help! :)
 
jeez this thread has taken me 15-20 mins to read , and its been nothing but laughs and shock :D , but i have to say i have an apprentice who is exactly the same:doh:
