Has anyone here any experience of the below?

It appears to offer dissociation of the BECM & the GEMS ECU which on an old knocker like my 97 4.6 example seems like an excellent idea.

The vendor claims that the engine will start and run with the BECM removed - so which other systems will i have to overcome before I can drive the vehicle?
Gearbox?

Can anyone tell me where I can get the info to map the dependencies on the BECM unit?

The BECM has an hand in everything. So if you want just the engine running and bugger all else working get one.

Indeed the BeCM has a hand in everything - so from a long term operability and maintainability standpoint it was a dozy design, given the known state of reliability engineering at the time. A guaranteed single point of failure.

So this widget generates a bitstream that GEMS learns in lieu of the code from the BeCM, and GEMS struggles out from under the dictatorship of the BeCM... Yay!

Where can I find which other systems require "authority" from the BeCM? - I just need to engineer autonomy for each system which can't be too hard with a PIC device or similar. (Which is probably what this Mobi-Lize thingy is).

To be fair the BECM doesn't seem to fail very often although there do seem to be more stories requiring Rick-The-Pick lately, or is it my imagination?

Given the operating environment and the age of most of these machines I don't think they've done badly at all.

As D & G have said just about everything.
You could start with the simple things like the switches on the dash. They'll all have to be re-routed through some type of flip-flops.

I think you should err on the side of caution with that one alan !!!!!! I mean it could end up with you wammy and data coming out together as the 3 decrees ????

and doing carnivals all over the place ,plus I know you wont stop with the flip flops you'll wear the whole kit ,dress- bra -crotcless nickers as well ,:clap2::clap2::clap2: but I suppose the three of you would look nice eh !!!!!! you could become known as the landyslappers

I would borrow your gear but you are not my size, didn't think they wore knickers in Tameside.
