L322 Wing Mirrors

Hi all, I have just bought a 53 plate L322 with electric folding wing mirrors. The problem is my (current) wife decided she would manually fold them in when she got to the supermarket . Now they are very free, if you try to fold them electrically they make an awful sound and if you go above 50mph they fold in by themselves! The adjustment of the mirror still works fine for both mirrors.

Ive heard the fix is £260 +VAT + fitting each side.

Maybe optimistically, I'm hoping someon on here has an inexpensive fix they could share with me??

sell the wifes body until she has earned enuff to fix the mirror mechanism.

Thanks for that; it had crossed my mind, but I'm not sure if that would cover a roll of sellotape!?
