Hello all.

Newly registered and looking for advice on an intermittent knocking sound coming from the rear of my 04 Freelander TD4. It's a 3 door, with roof bars and an explorer rack on. The car is mainly very quiet, the odd rattle here and there but have just noticed creaking noises from rear and now this knocking sound under breaking. Free wheeled and braked to try and locate but sound was not repeated at slow speeds. Is it likely to be a bump stop rubber, or something in the drum brake?

:welcome:
look in the Q's and A's section as a first port of call
2nd - do a search
3rd - ask in the Gaylander bit
4th cracked subframe or mounting nut.

hope yu got a thick skin and deep pockets

Thanks for the replies. I can't get the knocking to replicate by bouncing the car heavily? I hope this is good news. Yes I have a thick skin but no, sadly not deep pockets. But I would add that I think the Freelander is one of the more manly 4X4 available, albeit admittedly not from the Landy stable!

Hi Mattyb, Welcome to LZ. You'll find us in the Freelander section, oddly enough. Your issues are common enough and theres plenty of advice to be had.
