What's the maximum range for the keyfob to work ?
In my DSE the fob doesn't work further away than 3 or 4 meters and this makes it the lowest operating range for all the cars I've owned so far.

How far can you get away from your P38 and still remotely operate the locks ?

The range on mine depends greatly of the environment. If it's parked in the woods, far from any interference, it operates from about 8-10m. Usually, it operates from about 3m. Sometimes it doesn't work at all (remote controlled crane operating 10m from the car, wi-fi hotspot on a wall above the car etc).

I don't know if my RF antenna is connected or disconnected. That would surely make the range worse.

Yea its crap ant it, even when I got the new RF at first it seemed better, didn't last long, locking is a total pain takes sometimes 5 or 6 tries to double lock makes no difference even if your a few inch away from the thing......it has a mind of its own!!

Heh, doublelocking. Haven't seen that yet :)
A little offtopic, does anyone's seem to operate the sunroof and windows via remote when holding lock button for 2 seconds? Mine seems to do it only via driver's door lock.

Mine is OK like that it will close the roof and windows, and if I forget to lock it and walk away it will also lock itself

You should be able to do it without putting the key in the lock, try resetting the fob in the ignition and give it a go, put the key in the ignition( you may have to turn it to II cant remember) press the button and keep it pressed in, the red light flashes, then flashes faster and then stops, do it again for the other button, it works for me

I don't have a sunroof, but my windows can be shut via the lock button on the FOB by holding it down for a few seconds.
Range is about 3 to 4 metres, more if I hold the FOB up as high as I can reach, why would you want more range than that?

did you here of the guy who rang his mate who then held his phone next to his range rover while the button was pressed and his range rover key fob and it unlocked from over the mobile phone :D TRUE or MYTH?????

MYTH, mobile phone frequencies are no where near the FOB frequency, so while the early P38 RF receiver might pick up stray signals from the phone, the phone would not pick up signals from the FOB. In addition the phone does not re-radiate signals it receives which are encrypted digital transmissions.
I suppose it is just possible that an early RF receiver might respond to outgoing signals from the mobile held close to it and there is an outside chance that those signals might be recognised as a valid code, an all together too vague a possibility for me:)

If the butler hasn't got the door open by the time I arrive you mean?

Seriously, everything on mine works as it should but from no more than about 3 metres. The only use I've ever come across for more range was when SWMBO 'lost' her Focus in a supermarket car park. I don't have that problem with the Rangie.

:D
