hi,

hope someone can help.

my 1998 P38 4.0 v8 seems to have immobilized itself, this morning the key fob LED was not blinking when the button is pressed, removed fob battery and re inserted, LED now working doors still not unlocking

I have tried a variety of methods of re syncing the key fob.

hold lock button and turn key to right holding for 3 seconds

hold lock button turn key to right remove and insert holding unlock to the left.

also with a combination of turning ignition to pos 2

each time the door is unlocked (manually) and door opened the alarm chirps twice.

LED on dash is always blinking.

when key turned to right indicators blink

locking the car the alarm chirps again.

no engine warning light on dash

I do not have the EKA code, can this be found reset by someone with testkit?

dash shows "ENGINE DISABLED PRESS REMOTE OR USE KEY CODE" every time.

can anyone suggest other resync methods?

Have you tried the method thats in the handbook if not I will email it to you tomorrow but you will need the key code
cheers

Put the key in the ignition switch. If the fob is working correctly it should then resync automatically as your vehicle should have friendly resynchronisation. If your alarm is armed and is activated when you open the door this will not work.In that case you will have to enter the EKA code via the dorr lock.

mmm, its looking like i need the EKA code.

Will an indy garage be able to rest or get the EKA out of the system or do I need to go to the main dealer?

:welcome2:hi, firstly you need your 4 digit eka code .. check in your handbook it may be written in there ,if not ring your nearest main r/r dealer give them your reg and vin no they will give you the eka code .. once you have the eka code check my old threads and it will show you exactly how to do it. also you need to sync the fob to ignition etc .
how it works is = a, the fob , the ignition , the becm ,= all need to be syncd together which is very easy to do ,, then also you need to reset the eka sync again which is also very easy as long as you follow the instructions '' hope this helps if your stuck then pm me and i will give you my number and talk you through it , also im in manchester so if your local il'l come an do it for you .. also have you got new batteries for the fob and how many fobs do you have ?? ok bye for now regards mozz

thanks for the info Mozz, will contact local main dealer.

did not get book with it, should have known better but hindsight is 20/20

do you have any links to relevant posts?

I am over near Blackpool so not that local, but thanks for the offer

check my old posts all the instructions are there and they work 1st time as it all happened to me ,,, i got all my info off a top specialist in r/r problems ,, and again i assure you that follow the instructions slowly and carefully and everything will be back to normal .. ok im off to bed , cheers mozz

Still waiting to get code from Dealer, work got in the way of me getting there today.

I thought I would try the generic code that is mentioned in a few places 1515 and got a "KEY CODE LOCKOUT" warning.

So I guess the procedure is working just with the wrong code. which i guess means mircro-switches are OK?

The "generic code" is only for markets that do not have the EKA procedure enabled. The UK does have the procedure enabled.
Yes it looks as if the switch may be working, although you wont know for sure until you try the correct code.

Hi all,
