OK. After going cross eyed reading posts on key fobs and eka problems I can't find any answers for my scenario. Basically, the fob will unlock the doors but then I get engine disabled when trying to start. Press fob whilst in ignition and car starts. This is happening 2 out of 3 times. Is the fob un-synching between unlocking and starting engine?
Cheers in advance.

HI GADGETZ , its either low batteries in fob or something or someone near you interfering with r.f. receiver !!!! could be they have or you ??? a new Wi-Fi doorbell t.v. telephone house alarm etc etc etc have a look around or ask neighbours if they have installed something new lately if they have ask them to turn off and check car again then ask them to turn it on ,,,,,see the difference ???? if it is interfering with r.f. receiver then you need upgrade ,,,let me know year of car and details etc please then will figure it out for you ....this happens frequently ..tis a common problem , I can always call round and check for you im not far away ,,, cheers mozz

Sorry, it is a 99 model. I have already disconnected the rf amplifier and it happens everywhere I go. What I don't understand is, if it is opening the doors would that not mean it is synced? so why would it un sync in the time it takes to get in the car and turn the ignition? It always locks and unlocksvthe doors no problem. I have recently put new batteries in the fob. It was fine for a while after the battery change which is why I didn't think that was the cause.

You have completely disconnected the RF receiver? If so, that is your problem, on your year of car there is a passive coil in the ignition key barrel that triggers the FOB to sync when you put the key in the ignition, no RF receiver, no sync. If you watch carefully, the FOB LED blinks when you insert the key in the ignition.

I disconnected the rf over a year ago.Following instructions on here, I disconnected 1 wire which I thought was the amplifier as it was flattening the battery but this only started a week ago.
This morning I unlocked the doors with fob, no problems. Went to start and had to press fob to enable engine. Got to my workshop and have now opened the doors and started the engine without a glitch. Have got out, locked it and repeated 3 times now with no problems. Doubt it had just cured itself but fingers crossed. Will update if it hasn't.

hi , did you disconnect the blue wire ?????????? if so this will never cure the r.f. problem of being outdated it was only a quick fix !!!! you either need a bypass switch as mentioned quite often on here !!!!! or buy the upgraded r.f. receiver at approx. cost of £240.00 available from island 4x4 or main stealer ,,,, 99 model will have original blue dot unit ( unless been changed ) so you need the upgrade mk3 unit with green dot on it ,,so as to be completely covered for all spurious signals from garages , computers , Wi-Fi , radio sigs etc etc etc !!!!!!! not a cheap option but one that will rectify your problem permanently ....this has been covered many many times ,,, see how to section also.... be very wary where you buy one from !!!!!!! theres plenty of r'soles on fleabay that r selling the old ones cleaned up with nice new green sticker on ,,beware ...kind regards mozz:)
