Well not what I wanted today really but the key fob, including the spare, are not opening the doors and disabling the alarm. Fortunately I have the horn disconnected from the alarm but the vehicle is is still immobilised and I can't see the BCU as a result on my Nanocom.
Anyway, I've finally removed the headlining to find the condensed moisture on the roof at a very high level and water droplets everywhere including the RF receiver. Checked the three wires and appear to have power so it must be the RF gone. Opening and closing the doors with the key fob has been awkward and I have had to be next to the vehicle in recent months.
Taken the module out of the black box and some moisture inside the black box too and the three connection terminals look to be starting to oxidise. I'm guessing its going to have to be a new RF.
Now the issue - my Disco is a 1998 and does it matter which model year I get one from?
Any other tips or advice I may need would be good too. In the meantime I'll be trying to finally do something with that sagging headlining.

Pretty sure you have found the problem, a new module will solve the problem.
Have you worked out how the moisture got into it?
Can verify it is a plug and play.
Easy to do, even a half whit carpenter like myself managed it !

I should have taken a picture when the headlining was out but the steel roof was full of condensation and it was dripping wet.
I assume this is not uncommon in many vehicles, especially if not being run so much, as we are alldoing these days during lockdown.
The RF unit sits in a black plastic box which clips together and isn't sealed. I opened it up and there was moisture in the plastic box too.
Good old landrover. When the new one goes in I'll seal it and maybe even put it in a plastic bag.

Fantastic service.
I ordered the new RF receiver from Ribble Valley 4x4, after speaking with the guy about availability, and it arrive 24hrs later, plugged it in and all working again.
Can't fault the efficient service of Ribble Valley, tracker number for postage and text to phone confirming when the parcel would arrive, and it did exactly as said.
