Kenlowe & Electric Fan switches

My Kenlowe temp switch is rather temperamental (it's the one with the wire under the top hose, and I've been told that a top hose switch is much more reliable. I like the x-fan unit but I've found this unit Water Temp Gauge Radiator Hose Sensor Adaptor 34mm hose on eBay (end time 31-Dec-09 22:21:24 GMT) which seems more reasonably priced. It requires a standard fan switch, are they all the same or need I ask for a specific type at a motor factors? I have heard that some cars eg the VW Passat have such a unit in their top hose, does anyone know?

that looks good and as you say cheap enough. the temp sender works by closing a contact in the sensor when it reaches a certain temp. this allows a signal to be sent to the fan switching it on. so just about any fan will work with this connector.

Loads of information on that listing. Almost everything you could think of has been explained about the product except for one of the most important datails: what sensor will thread into it! Best to ask the seller.

that looks a really good way of doing it as i had to put a new radiator on my series III and after putting the wire back under the top hose it has never been a decent seal and it occasionally drips water.

Thats ineteresting, you might be able to get diffo temp switches as well.
