Removed tank guard from RR sport today
2007 hse full dealer serviced, maintenance/MOT plan 105k nice looking car till went underneath
Removed the remains of tank guard as it was an advisory on MOT so not covered by plan (surprise surprise)
What a pain. Rusty bolts etc.
Had to take pic. Rust in piece tank guard

Bit of gaffer tape and underseal it will fine,
not good that, it looks like it could have done with some drain holes in it, as its a natural water trap.

Get your hairy ass skyward, you should be able to sort it if you've lived on yer wits outside of Loyds certification.
If your wondering wot I'm on about your not a real welder and you weren't there man, 6GR with 2.5mm stick root etc etc etc,

Was replaced with genuine part Wasn't patching that. The big rust hole to the right of pic used to be a 20 dia drain hole
The lloyds days are gone for me. 2.5 rods, I wish. 3.2 + usually on a genset outdoors dragging bloody long cables and welding overhead Usually sorting someone else's mis measures aka f***k ups

Been a long while since doing Lloyds 10" test pipe but by the time you ground back and feather edged each root rod you had about 1 inch of weld. I thought 6GR was same but may have been 3.2mm.
I would be drenched in sweat during test.

Not a pipe man. Was structural steel for industrial buildings. 3.2 or 4.0 cross outdoors and mig in factory.
Remember doing lloyds test in prep 10 mm plate vertical up both mig and stick both with root runs.
Now general fabricator making one offs for obsolete machinery. Bit lighter and not so much outdoor. Not used a genset for 15 years now
