Hi all.

I was just wondering if any of you have come across putting this k-seal additive in a 1.8 engine.

Reason being that today i noticed that after i have been continuasly topping my expansion tank up with water i have now seen that water has been leaking and gathering up on the floor under the engine area.

I have taken a look and it seems to be leaking from the water pump, I havent had any issues with overheating (thank god) and the needle is sitting half way on the guage with the blowers throwing out both hot & cold air so im assuming everything is ok.

Would it be advisable to add the K-Seal or should i just get the water pump changed?

Thanks.

change the pump now......its warning you and you could lose all cooling any moment

Your motor is very vulnerable to overheating......dont even think of messing about.........sort it out or throw it away

K seal type sealer only tends to work on a radiator whole for instance, the contant turning of the pump against the k seal will prevent it from working properly. As said above get a new pump (about £20) and if you are confident about changing a cambelt then do the pump yourself :)

What would i do without u guys hey :):):)

TBH for the sake of a few quid i will have it done in the garage as im not too bad with the spanners myself but the luck i have il prob be a tooth or two on the timing and be on a new head :doh::eek:

Is there an uprated type of water pump on the market or will an everyday off the shelf pump do?

My 1.8 is going in on Monday morning to have a new pump fitted and a new timing belt auto tensioner replaced. cost £210 to £250 full winter check while it is in dock. So if you are good with your spanners do it yourself, me I am crap with spanners so have to pay the price. Still it is cheaper than buying a second hand engine and paying to have that checked out and fitted.
