Bought a TD5 alive one - Quick Question or two after reading the fitting instructions:

Have many people sheared off any of the bolts when trying to undo them?

The Servo Pipe thing? Is this meant to open/close the EGR value? So just plugging in will do the trick? Im not going to loose the brakes or anything dangerous like that?

I did my old Disco, but it was just the blanking plate

Cheers

Mine came out easy except the ones on the exhaust manifold. Gave them a good dose of plus gas and got things nice and hot before giving them a rattle with my air impact driver fitted with a decent hex bit. After that no dramas at all. Refitted every thing with a dab of copper grease and they all came off nice and easy when I changed my engine 18 months later.
Just blanked of the vac pipe at the T piece.
I also got hold of a spare inlet manifold and cleaned it up before I swapped it over.

cheers guys. If i sheer it, can i drive it with just one bolt in (assuming i dont sheer both off?) i dont have tapping tuff?

Is it best to do it with things hot or cold? In my head, things expand when warm so cold is better or is there another explanation?

Its my understanding that when cold the bolts will be a tad shorter so will be pulling tighter against the flange. Get a gas torch on them and heat locally - dont go mad but they need to be hot. Be careful if you start bashing things because the manifold is cast iron and can crack if you get carried away. If you're worried get hold of a spare exhaust manifold and run a tap through the holes on the bench then just swap the buggers over.
