yesterday after typing out my updated profile,promoted from junior member to Senior Member,I thought it was about time I introduced myself.
Wow,what a find,never been in the intruduce yerself section before.I introduced myself then,I read a post from a vicar?the sean character and sumother discodancer tore shreds out of him cause he expressed an interest in FreeLandeRs.what are the chances that howardo got in there and saw this before me,i read his post after i read post 1-3 or 4.

Later when I've got time I'm going to bring these Gob****es to the attention of the fender and disco forums,I'm sure they'd be interested too,...bet them 2 fugkers work for lexus or ....

no wonder people are put off posting more than a few times,check out the post from the vicar posted thismorning,,,Sean and Disco Stew apologies will have to be begged for or earned.:mil4:

by the sounds of things he aint got room for a disco.But id recomend one over a gaylander.

that's a pile of horse poo - read the thread it's full of people giving their best advice, that's what forums are for - simply because YOU don't agree with what people might say on here it doesn't make it incorrect, put yer handbag away

Sean, are you really trying to deny the fact that every time the word "freelander" pops up, you're around to tell people what a bad car it is? For someone who doesn't like Freelanders you're sure busy reading and replying about them. Closet case?

it's called trying to be helpful, and perhaps if what I (and the vast majority of others here will also say) helps to save someone from buying a money pit then i will be happy - no one ever gets forced to take written advise seen here do they

OldIrishWolf, have another look, and try and understand what was posted. Most of the advice given (and yes, it was advice) is pretty much true and is good advice. So some people might take the gaylander thing a bit far, but it's well meant ****-taking, it's not meant to get anyone's back up (cough!!) and has a value that only the reader puts on it and pays for it. OK, you have a Freelander, so it gets your back up, so tough, get a thicker skin or drop the chip off your shoulder

If you dislike the forum that much, you're free to ****off and go where you like. Indeed you're free to post here as often and about whatever you want, but personally, (thankfully) I see little of you, but as it appears you like talking ****e and trying to belittle other peoples posts, I'd probably, on balance, prefer to see you ****off.

and for what it's worth I've done in excess of 10,000 miles in a Freelander over the past few months - I'd also like to point out (before my sexual orientation is questioned) that i neither own it or pay for the fuel - it's actually quite a tidy CAR

but a FL1 is still (IMHO) a pile of poo

Being helpful, right. How helpful is it when someone decided on a Freelander to keep calling the car **** and the guy an idiot time and time again? It's one thing to mention it once or twice. You guys seem to have turned it into the national championships to repeat it at every change you get. Vicar decided on a Freelander, you keep on mentioning you think it's ****. Ignoring the fact a disco is bigger, heavier, twice as expensive and uses more fuel. Which might be a consideration for the vicar. You'll never hear me say that the Freelander is the most reliable car in the world. No Land Rover is. But it get annoying if you repeat it time and time again. How would you like it if someone kept on telling you you've bought a piece of **** and you should have bought a Landcruiser, cause it's more reliable?

About the closet case, freelanders and homosexuality seem to be your favourite subjects...

are you sure you are moaning at the right person as I fail to see ANYTHING within any of my posts on this forum that could provide you with even the slightest bit of evidence to support that comment

A freelander would have been ample for what he wanted to do. I doubt he'd be taking it through knarly greenlanes and window deep in water. For country lanes and slightly flooded roads the freelander would cope perfectly well.

He probably decided upon the freelander because of it's lower petrol consumption, car like handling and from what he said himself, the size of it.

Basically we had yet another OP who had already made up his mind, just wanted a bit of info and a welcome. Yet all he got was people being completely negative about his choice.

I know you think you're 'only giving advice' but the advice would be received a lot better if it was backed up with reasons, maybe even pros and cons... anything but 'get a disco, freelanders are ****e'.

Sean, i doubt you've thought about the subject raised as the first post in this thread wasn't the friendliest towards you, but surely you can see where I'M coming from? I'm hoping you can anyway as i've tried to put it forward in the most argumentative way without giving an ear bashing.

would you, or the other hippo owners, have preferred me and everyone else who replied to have told him that the Freelander was an ideal vehicle considering his requirements and his budget ?

I know you didn't type 'get a disco, freelanders are ****e', and your first post was actually subtle but my quote was a generality of the replies on here when someone does mention getting a freelander.

I mentioned your name in the second paragraph as this particular thread is aimed at you and you were replying to most of the bait (albeit offensive bait), but i wanted to try and get across that i wasn't trying to give you an ear bashing but ask why you (and a lot of others) see that when someones made up their mind on a vehicle that would actually suit their needs quite well, why not be happy with their decision and still try to ward them away from it?

Personally i'd have said a freelander would have served him well and if he'd have shopped around a bit he'd also have a bit of change.

at the end of the day it's not my money these people are spending - i don't know what you do for a living but if you give people your best advise based on masses of readily available info along with yours and many others experience and despite that they then they opt NOT to take it then that's their problem as they clearly either think or know they know better than you (us)

would you prefer people on here not to mention the repeat HGF issue that haunts the 1.8 - would you prefer that people don't get shown the faults poll that details many 100s of faults ?

getting the hump whenever someone posts something you don't agree with isn't a healthy personality trait - but that's just my opinion

Fair play, you're only giving advice but think back to when you bought your defender. If you had some salesman come up to you giving you advice that a landcruiser was more reliable, faster, comfier and more value for money you'd have been pretty annoyed having already made your mind up on the defender and already stating that to him before he started. You'd walk away and it's possible you'd never go back.

I've certainly not got the hump, i'm just trying to argue in a civilised way rather than tell you and others to 'fyerself'.

It looked like the OP had already done a bit of research as he was already aware to stay away from the K series.

From what i've read over many posts, people wanting a 1.8k are told to go for a TD4, and people wanting the TD4 are told to go for the disco, so basically they can't really win.
