The guy wanted more but i gave him £350 cash what you think.

he also said that the preev owner also local changed the gasket ?? to the new type.
Sorry guys but i have never had a freelander before so is it :) or

Poke your head under the beast and see if it has both prop shafts. If not, your VCU is toast and someone has taken a short cut to keep it on the road.

to check the propshaft lay on the floor and look under the car you will see a thick tube runs from the front to the back with the black VCU in the middle putting some details in the Freelander section may be of some help to you if your still not sure lay on the floor and take some photos and upload to the Freelander section

i have herd that the 1.8 are the most unreliable of the Freelander's but you could say that with any car if you look after the car well and keep it serviced and do the cooling mods you should be and for £350 isnt the end of the world

Thanks jest looked unerneath, ok there is a propshaft running from front to back like the old 1960 cars or rear wheel drive lark.

is there a big donut like thing in the middle? thats the VCU. check it. test is in FAQ section. check it regularly... it can ruin your transmission completely.

the guy told me that it has had the new type gasket kit fited by the prev owner and he has a pub so may pop over to his pub to ask Qs about it
