Hi all,

I bought my Freelander last week. Now all I need is some snow! Last year I remember getting my S type Jag stuck in snow in November. Here we are in mid December and not even a little slush on the roads.

Knowing my luck it'll turn out to be the mildest Winter on record or something silly like that.

So...

Any predictions of when and how much snow we're likely to have this Winter?

Andy.

I have it!

All around my house!

I spent the afternoon sorting out my chains - all 4 of them!

And practised fitting 'em!

No kidding!

Get yourself a snow-board and try getting up into the hills next weekend.

Lots of peeps from the south tried this weekend with their summer tyres and....FAILED.

Only one problem with a Hippo in the snow - the bugga can't jump over the numpties that are stuck.

same as when you buy a tent or caravan for summer and it never comes!

Wouldn't have thought that would be a problem seeing as you'll be looking for the lost doors every 30 seconds

Sow is expected in the next week or so.

Freelanders are great in the snow, good mixture of decent weight, superb tyres, some driver training and experience saw me through the last 2 winters with little issue.

Was more stable under braking and turning than my bosses disco3 anyway, they may not be able to tow lorries or whatever up hills but for getting about they are great.

Only an idiot with wrong tyres or looking for trouble will get one stuck and unlike the tratter boys, the heater works fine, it doesn't leak water in, oil out or have to be wax oiled after every winter to stop it rusting away.

dont listen to these tratter wanna be's ! lol

freelanders are infact very good in the snow.

my freelander td4 sport was brilliant last year in the snow, with 17" standard tyres it went everywhere other cars got stuck.

im more worried about driving the range rover this year in the snow !

go safe :)

Your freelanders ability to function in the snow depends on your capability as a driver and the tyres fitted. hardwearing, summer tyres will be sh1t.

A/T tyres are probably the best halfway house with regard longevity, useability, cost and performance in all weather.

The most accurate comment I've read on tyres / winter / snow for ages.

Hardwearing, summer tyres are **** in the snow!

This should be written big and displayed on bill-boards all over the country.
