Its Happened Again!!!!!!!!!

my 2.5 dhse has today refused to start! i have only owned this car 2 weeks and already its been to a rr dealer to get it goin again, then we were told the car thought it was being hijacked so immobilised itself, and today unlocked the car , it is not warning of anything wrong, just will not start.
PLEASE ANY IDEAS

It sounds like your alarm and imobiliser are on there way out.
The alarm and imobiliser are hard wired into the car so they are hard to disconnect.
However you can get a land rover dealer ( or landrover non franchise garage) if they have the software to turn of the alarm and imobiliser.
I had a simular problem with my car. I damaged my key fob with water and i could use the key to enter via the driver door but it would not start the car because the alarm would not recognise the damaged key.
I had the car low loaded to huddersfield landrover centre and they got the car running then used there lap top and turned of the alarm and imobiliser so that i could use the car with the damaged key.( they charged me 20 quid to do this. absolute best deal ever).
IF I WERE YOU I WOULD TRY TO GET YOUR GARAGE TO TURN OF THE ALRM AND IMOBILISER BECAUSE LETS FACE IT IF SOME ONE WANTS TO NICK IT AN ALARM AINT GONNA STOP EM.

PS HUDDERSFIELD LANDROVER CENTRE ARE ON THE NET AND IF YOU ASK FOR MARK HE WILL GLADLY ADVISE YOU ON WHAT TO DO.

car being towed on monday back to rr, who repaired last time
now will i have to pay again if the prob is the same as previous?
if it is the alarm and immobilser on there way out does anyone know of what sort of cost this will be? and if so , can we have them changed to a diff style of immobiler and alarm, cause this one is drivin me mad .
wished i had kept my trooper( old reliable)!!!!!

See if anyone nearby has a Rovacomlite, my alarm/imob was playing up, so I switched it off via the laptop, perfect now

just a short update , spoke to rr this morning, they think it could be interference from radio masks! has anyone heard of this prob b4?
said they might have to do something with the immobillser , turn it down or something!!!!!!

THEY ARE TALKING UTTER BOLLOCKS.

I bet you are dealing with a franchised land rover dealership .

They are just trying to get rid of you and your car because it is not very profitable to have a mechanic tied up chasing an alarm fault when they could be servicing a new car and screwing the owner of that for 600 quid.

Listen the best thing to do with your car is get the alarm and immobiliser turned off via rova com.( the dealer should be able to do this for you and it only takes about 5 mins so dont let them charge you much for it).
then if you are adamant that you need an alarm then get an auto electrician out to fit an after market one for you.

As for antenna masts, well they probably had a very good laugh at your expense when you left.
Take the car to a non franchised dealer if your problem persists .

oh well, shes back again, had the signal strength turned down, cost 120 pound but if it saves hassle then whats money!!!!!!!
if it dosnt work, then who knows what will happen, apart from me going mad
no fault could be found, very strange!

They were quite correct in what they were saying,LP RR's have had severe problems with interference from mobile phone masts,electronic doorbells,R/C golf caddies,PC wireless networking etc.
They will have fitted a new RF reciever which is much less prone to interference from other signals operating on or around 433mhz.This is the recognised LR fix and it works,also curing many flat battery issues along the way.
LR dealers cannot turn off alarm immobilser functions with testbook,as it is not designed to do that - they can set them up to different market programmes,eg USA/Canada where the EKA function is not used.Rovacom /Autologic can because they are basically pirated software with no connection to LR.
Before you get stuff like this done,it might be a good idea to get in touch with your insurer as they usually insist on clever alarms/immobilisers to get stealing/burning cover.(they like a good excuse not to pay out ! )Fitting an aftermarket alarm to an LP RR is asking for trouble - esp as they are now entering old age and having things like the EAS waking up and leveling every 6hrs overnight will be a nightmare.

found this quite interesting!

The term used is super lock; I have had this on several occasions, twice in the UK, parked near Cell sites, and also at airports.

There is also the danger (if parked for a long period) month or so at an airport, that the battery can run down (Flat)
This is due to the alarm receiver being woken up, by every transmitting, and eventually running the battery down, you can see if this is happening by the use of a DC clamp meter on the + battery lead, if its drawing 1 amp (aprox) your alarm receiver is in wake up mode.

You can if possible move the car (tow or push) the car to another area, in order to gain access.
Or by experience not park in that location again

Other points, if your battery does go down (for whatever reason) the last thing the vehicle will do is super lock.

My advice, (cost effective fix) remove the antenna connection from (UK vehicles) the drivers side rear window (it’s the single upright antenna element in the glass, this de senses the alarm receiver, to about 1 m from the car, using your key fob, just means you have to be close to that point to open it!

One other point, I would never ever leave keys in the car with it running or not, just in case a super lock condition occurs.

mine 2004 tdi vogue just did same plenty of turnover no broom broom only had it 3 weeks.
AA man immeditly started looking for remote masts etc but as we were in village pub carpark couldnt find any
now awaiting tow to land rover dealer to sort.
