Now my D1 is 24 years old but with only 48800 + miles as such it should go to a new owner with more enthusiasm. ( only 500 + miles between MOTs this year) :(

So I’m looking for some else so spent my children’s inheritance on.
My shopping trolley 2015 Jag XE S has now be sold as always at a great financial loss, so Ive seen this,

But then as I’ve always been what they call a “press on driver” and now I don’t need the load carrying capacity of a RR or Disco and never wanted seven seats so maybe I’ll be happy with this. Of course I would + a disco .

I know stay with my D1 until it fails the MOT in the very distant future. :)

Please stick with your D1. They are fab vehicles and so much easier to work on etc. D4 I wouldn't touch with a bargepole and man indies won't work on anything after a D2 due to the electronix.
The Jag looks fun!
Why not!
(Can't believe you have done so few miles in your D1, I've done far more than that in both my D1 and my D2 and I have had both of them for much less time than you. My other D1 has just sat on my drive since I bought it due to various issues to do with getting its LPG system certificated. Mind you I do notice you often post from the train!)
Wifey joins with me in saying she prefers the D1 to the D2 as the ride is more comfortable, or at least the seats are. Maybe its the mods I did to the suspension, i.e. springs and shocks. The D2 is standard.
And if your D1 fails the MOT? So what? They are easily fixable!!!

I honestly cant see any circumstances that would make me sell my Discovery. In fact I have been waiting eagerly until her 25th birthday comes, so that I can import her into the US.
I have not been back to the UK for about 2 years and cant wait for April 9th next year, my cars date of 1st registration (and coincidentally my eldest sons birthday).
As you know, there isn't much that cant be rectified and I have been diligently, over the past 10 years, been collecting body panels, and electrical/mechanical spares "just in case".
My car is in nowhere near as good a condition as yours, appears to be and nothing would wrestle that car from my grasp.
I do have other cars, one with a V8 and one with a straight 6, but nothing puts a smile on my face than hearing "the tratter" fire up.
Good luck with your decision, from your proposed purchases you have great taste in cars and I am sure you will make a great choice, but, if you do sell the Discovery, will you have the same feelings for the new car, in a year or two, as you quite obviously do (if you didn't I do not think you would be asking the question) for your Discovery.
I would get a newer car, and, keep the Discovery, no question.

Exactly what I’ve been doing since I purchased a RR in 1987 and then a D1 in 1997, thanks to a decent company bonus each year, so six years a go went and purchased a Jag. Before that in 2010 I got a Maserati, five years later I went to part x it at a LR dealer for D5… but they didn’t have a demo for me to try and then offered a silly bid as part X
So I went next door to the Jaguar dealer and got a good deal, and came away with one.

Also helps having the use of a boring company car to save wear on my car since 1981. :)
