Hi all. I have a very sad Disco 4 HSE from 2015. It is the gen 2 Euro 6 engine but it has gone bang (twice) by rattling out two big end bearings. The first time it didn't turn the main bearing shells so I thought a regound crank and 2 con rods would put it right especially after I found that the oil pump rear plate had 4 loose screws. I replaced the pump along with piston rings while it was apart.
It ran great for 250 miles but then it failed again. I now suspect the block main bearing housing is at fault.
Right, back story over. My question is can a Jag XF 3.0 engine from 2009 be used as a base for a rebuild. I realise the pistons have a different ring thickness but is there anything else. I can reuse my heads if necessary and I have all my ancillary parts.
Any help would be gratefully received as I am at my wits end. Love the car though!!.
